Increased Disney dining costs for Easter

Let me get this straight. Disney are increasing the prices of the buffets/meals in thos restaurants just for the two weeks around Easter?

I fail to understand this. They don't increase the prices around Thanksgiving or Christmas, do they? No other restaurants slam-up the prices just because it's Easter.

Very disappointing news. It's not the few extra $$ that bothers me, just the principle of milking as much money as they can; just because they know parks will be near capacity.

No they did it for Xmas also, not sure when they started doing it but I remember it being announced.
We will eat offsite now so makes no difference, might eat onsite the week after prices go back to normal but no way will I pay inflated prices.

Thanks for the info, Wayne. Never realized they did this at Christmas too. Very disappointing IMO. :(

I have said before, we have friends who are cast members and they have stopped eating onsite now, even with their discounts they don't think its worth it. Last year we had 1 meal with them onsite at Hoop, we ate offsite for rest.
Disney must still fill the seats but won't be with us.

I think it is a cheek to increase the prices for the popular holidays. Just out of interest do they increase the cost of the dining plan then too or is everyone else subsidising the people on the plan?

Truth is that Disney restaurants are ludicrously over-priced even at normal rates. We usually treat ourselves to one or two Disney meals each stay, but even then, it niggles that we are paying twice, even three times, what we might pay off-site for similar food.

The DDP is the same price (at the minute) - so it just affects everyone else. Most people probably won't even realise that they are paying over the odds - but will make me think twice before booking!

This is what happens when demand oustrips supply :( If they end up with a ton of empty seats I suspect they will stop doing it but I think that's unlikely.

Thanks for the info, Wayne. I never realised they did this either. We weren't planning to eat on-site much this trip anyway, but will definitely not do until the prices drop again after Easter.

Thinking about this though it's exactly the same principle that leads to free dining being offered in quiet periods and you don;t hear too many complaints about that. I suppose they have to finance it somehow!

I think we often forget that disney are a company trying to make money, we can't really blame them for trying i suppose :rotfl2:
