Increase in resort prices?

I was looking at going for NYE next year so 2019-2020 and the prices for hotels seem to be substantially higher than in previous years, if I'm remembering correctly. We went for NYE last year and if my memory isn't failing, I believe POR was under $300 and it's now listed at $335 for that week. Similarly, the Allstars were under $200 and now they're about $220. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about the previous prices, it's been a year since I looked at our bill for that trip lol.

We booked the trip last year in February and made a few hotel changes along the way, but I don't remember any of the prices changing that dramatically throughout the year. Is it common for hotel prices to be increased right now since it's the holidays? Or did they just increase prices across the board?

Hotel prices go up every year and prices for the holidays are even higher. I'm not surprised it would be more than a few years ago when you last went.

An increase of $20-$35 per night over a 2-year period is not "substantial" in my book. I'm actually surprised that it's not more.

The prices have certainly increased since your visit last year. If you're planning on driving, be sure to budget in the parking fees as well, hope you have a terrific trip!

I was pricing a trip for late 2019 and was a bit shocked. I only travel with a discount so looking at rack rates makes me cringe.

I agree that when you plan your biudget, look at fees as well.

It's more like 5% annually over the 2-year time span the OP is looking at. Still higher than inflation but in keeping with other price hikes at Disney.

Thanks for the responses! Before last year, it had been over 10 years since we went, so I haven't been up to date with how much they typically increase prices. I figured they did, but I wasn't sure by how much. I just wanted to make sure I shouldn't wait for lower prices to book it.

Good information from other posters. You may also consider if you're comparing rack rate to discounted rate. If you're looking now for 2019-2020 you're seeing rack rate. It's possible that you got a discounted rate for your previous trip. Not saying that the rack rates weren't what you listed in your OP but certaintly a discount would make a rack rate feel worse when comparing year over year.
