Got the latest DDE mailer today. Apparentley they are going to switch over to an e-mail format for the special events rather then do a mailing. They are asking everyone to send in their e-mail address info to a DDE web site. Tried to do it, the address was either not up yet, or it was wrong. Got back one of those "mailer Daemon" messages.
And thet were pretty sneaky about a price increase as of Jan. 1st, 2006. They say the membership fees are being "modified". For cryin' out loud Iger, call it what it is, a price increase! AND, a secondary membership {spouse, etc.} is now $25!!!

Figure that either Iger has learned well from Ei$ner, or Ei$ner has to be paid off for leaving without a big fight. Or, perhaps they need the $$$$ to pay Jobs and Lassiter!

Oh come on mitros, I guarantee that Bob Iger has never even heard of the Disney Dining Experience. This is a local decision that probably Al Weiss doesn't even know about.

Everybody knows it's because of us non-Floridian annual passholders. the mailing even says so.

Sorry. As much as my friends in Florida complain, I'm holding onto the card. It'd be nice if I could get down there for some of the events...but the scheduling isn't right.

We received the notice to e-mail them our info and we got the same return mail because it couldn't find the website. :confused3 We tried adding more ".s" because there are more on our dining card. No luck. We finally got in the back door through the passholder sight and managed to print out a form we will fax back to them. This was such a convoluted way to mange this info.

My DH and I think they may be trying to phase out our DDE for the Dining plan that doesn't seem to compare. It sounds way too complicated compared to DDE and constraining. I'm afraid we are going to lose something else we value. They already did away with our best rates program. That really worked for us too. Sometimes I feel so in the minority.

Back when the DDE was widely distributed we (us FL residents) told you guys it was great for you not so great for us...Now I guess you're seeing our point. First large price hikes (that eliminated our original 20% savings) at the restaurants now price hikes in the card (that everyone must absorb)...Geeesh!

Not a significant perk anymore when I have to spend $300. just to break even. With the loss of several venues it becomes even less a good thing.

We found out a better way of saving. Eating in. We just got back from a 26 day stay and decided to experiment on what it would take to eat in. It wasn't difficult at all. We ate out when we wanted to. We made the meals simple and quick, and froze the leftovers. Cooking was not an everyday event. We didn't feel we missed anything.

We felt better too, but still gained weight. :rotfl:

We bought $200.00 worth of groceries. Majority of our spending was for souvenirs and pins.

We were shocked when we got the bill on check-out. UNDER A $1000.00 !!!!!!

There was only two of us.

Sorry, thought I was on the DVC site.

For the price increase, it was increased to FL resident just when they opened up to all AP holders. If I had wanted to "renew" at that time, it was going to cost me more than it would for a new non-FL resident to get one. I had to call them & tell them that I wasn't going to renew, but to purchase "new" to get it for the $50 price :headache: after the call, the let me "renew" at the "new lower" price. What I think is wrong is now charging $25 for a secondary card! That is a rip off! I may not renew this coming Aug. My kids are older & do not come with me as often, we do less character meals now...may not be worth it with the extra card fee for me.

My wife and I spend at least $5000/year at Disney restaurants and bars.
While nobody likes a price increase, it is still a great bargain for us. :smokin:

that's still chicken feed compared to the cost of feeding 2 + for a week!
It's still an excellent deal.
