I just read on another site that the number of DVC rooms at AKV has gone up.. Anyone know what views they are..? I know there are quite a few value rooms blocked for Disney...

Why would you think there are value rooms blocked for disney there are only a few stand alone studios and 10 2 bedroom lock outs in the entire category. And that will not increase. If you are seeing value studios available from CRO does not necessarily mean that they will be value studios when people check in. If Disney is trying to fill rooms they will advertise value studios and those people will possibly be pleasantly suprised when they arrive.

Maybe Im wrong but if look at the map of DVC rooms available on another site (not sure if Im allowed to mention it) There are a section of rooms on the 5th floor at AKV that are not highlighted because they dont belong to DVC and I know they face the parking lot and they are adjacent to the rooms we had last summer which were value. That is why I thought they might be value.

The recent addition of further units in the DVC inventory (which were in fact ones in Kidani) does not determine which rooms DVC members can actually stay in. All rooms were available for occupancy by DVC members even before the addition.

The way it works when DVC is selling resort units is as follows. Members get to reserve that portion of reservable time in the resort that is represented by the portion of the resort that has been sold. In other words, if, for example, AKV is about 75% sold, that would mean members can resereve about 75% of the total available reservation time for the resort in all rooms and Disney gets to rent the rest of the avaialble time for those rooms.

Those are AKL rooms not AKV rooms which is why they are not highlighted.

Drusba is correct. The DVC resorts have a reciprocal use clause that lets DVC owners have access to Vacation Homes that have not yet been officially declared for the DVC Members' inventory. The only restriction is that the Members cannot book more than 74.96% (the percentage of AKV that has been declared to date) of AKV using points on any given Use Day.

As dzorn said, those 5th floor rooms that are not highlighted on the map are AKL hotel rooms. When the DVC conversion was done back in 2007, those rooms were not converted to DVC villas.
