Incorrect wait times

For example, the sign at the opening to the Gadget's line is permanent. It says that the wait is 20 minutes from that point, and it never changes. But if the line isn't backed up all the way to that point, then the wait is not going to be 20 minutes.

Hm, I thought the wait time was able to be adjusted...are you saying it's able to be adjusted but CMs just don't have the time or inclination to do so?

In November 2011, they were adjusting Small World's wait time, at least sometimes.

What app have people found most reliable for wait times? I have a Windows Phone.

I see Disney Mobile Magic for Verizon get advertised a lot, I wish they had something like that for other providers.

I haven't found any that are super accurate, but DL Waits is pretty good. Still, there are random incorrect times submitted pretty frequently - for example, while RSR is closed, someone will submit a wait time of 20 minutes. I guess they are just bored and entertaining themselves? :confused3

On DL Waits you can see the most recent submitted wait times - so you can decide which ones to disregard and make an educated guess as to the actual time. I find it useful to decide whether to make the trek over to a particular ride, but wouldn't count on it to the minute.

As for the Disney Mobile Magic app, I find it is the worst. It doesn't even give a number - for example, it will say RSR is "high demand." Well, duh. :)

I was kind of excited about Ask Otto (though I wish it was an app and not a phone call), but found that it is not accurate either. It told me (when RSR was down and had been for 2 hrs) that the wait time was 10 minutes. ??

There was an app I used to use - Walkee Waits - where it had a timer to determine your wait time while in line, but I always forgot to end the timer when I got on the ride! Oops. As others have said, though, that's not necessarily the best method either, since wait times change frequently.

I find the best way to find out is to go to the ride. If you are familiar with the queue, you can see for yourself. if not, I ask the CM, "is the wait time X minutes, for real?" and they can usually give me a pretty good answer.

They can be adjusted. The queues can also be adjusted. So let's say it's a busy day...they might change the ropes on the queue so that you circle around an extra time or two. They would also change the wait time at the fixed point (so maybe it goes from 20 min to 30 min when they add the extra loop on the queue). However, if it is not a busy day, the sign might still say 20 minutes "from this point"...but the queue is not full so it never gets to the fixed point. You see the not-full queue situation with some of the Fantasyland rides (Dumbo, Casey, IASW). Then again, something like Peter Pan has the changing queue, where the sign might say 30 minutes at one point, and then 40 minutes later on (even though the sign hasn't moved locations and the queue has been full the whole time). I'm not sure I'm making sense...it's all clear in my mind, but hard to communicate via typing :-)
