I know I'm not the only one frustrated by this. But I'm really getting tired of asking a question via chat and getting one answer. Then when I go to do the thing, getting told "oh, we can't do that". I booked a room for the MM in HS. Before I booked I asked if Id be able to modify that reservation to use points in holding when it got within 60 days. They said absolutely, just do a chat or give us a call. Go to do that today and get told "nope" but we can try to make a new reservation. Which of course wouldn't work bc rooms had to be booked last month to be eligible. ugh.
 
What happens when you use the modify feature on the website?

If you keep everything the same, the reservation number should stay the same and the system should pick up the holding points before using any of the other points. Several have reported this working for non-MM reservations, so I see no reason why it wouldn't work for those, too. Let us know if it works should you decide to try it. Good luck!

I ended up calling and they said that Feb 20th date to have the room booked was only for the Epcot dates. So I just booked a room at OKW that checks out on the 24th which they said I'd still be eligible for the event that evening.
 
This is how it should work: if the room is still available at 60 days out then they should be able to swap the points. Allowing it even if the room is no longer available means the holding point policy is useless. Now, they might be making exceptions due to the pandemic and that is understandable. There have also been reports of people using the modify feature (as CarolMN describes above) at 60 days out and getting the system to use holding points either way.
 

I have done it online several times. You go in, modify, and following to the end, without changing a thing, except making sure the contract with the holding points is checked.

Book it and the system will do it for you and pull in those points.
