Incorrect charge for no-show plus warning for large parties

Hi all.

Just a heads up plus a vent.

Went to WDW with large party of 15 from 1/8 - 1/15. Just got my cc bill today and notice a charge on 1/14 from 'WDW DINE TICKETS' for $20. Wracked my brain for a bit and finally figured out that this was one of the new charges for no-shows...Only problem is - we all showed.

What happened in about half our reservations was that we were given separate reservations (2 or 3 depending on the restaurant) due to the size of our party. Upon arrival - I would bring all our ADR#'s to the check-in and explain that we were together. Many of them would say they were 'combining' our reservations to put us together in their system. This same thing happened at Tusker House and one of the reservations was marked as 'no show'. I'm guessing the only reason this wasn't a bigger issue for me is that 90% of our reservations were made prior to instituting the $10 charge for no-shows. Since many restaurants seemed to handle it the same way but this was the only one for which we were charged.

I called 407-WDW-DINE and asked to speak to whomever would be in charge of this type of charge - the CM had no clue with whom I should speak. She then helped me determine exactly which ADR# was marked as a 'no show' and told me to email guest communications. I wasn't thrilled with this response. This is $20 of MY MONEY that they have had for 2 weeks now and I want it back now since it was an error on their end. I really don't want to go through the hassle of days or weeks of emails back and forth. And honestly - they have no idea whether or not I was really there (we were) - so I'm not convinced I don't need to speak with a person to get my point across and explain what happened at the restaurant. So I told the CM that I will give it 24 hours to be resolved via email and after that I will start making some phone calls and asking for supervisors if I can't find anyone who is authorized to credit my credit card. Any ideas who is the best person or department for this?

I'll let you know if I get a response/resolution in a timely manner.

I'm guessing this is going to be a bigger issue than they realize and that there will be many in my shoes before too long...
 
407-828-5630 (billing) is the number to call. you will have it fix in no time. I took the lady a few minutes to refund me the $$ Good luck!

I hope this doesn't become an ongoing issue with these reservations!

Same problem here! Only my charge was $50.00 from a dinner at Garden Grill that 8 of us showed up for and I have already paid over $400.00. We too had two reservations that were combined. I am furious. There has to be a way to mark in the computer that both parties showed up. It is now my problem to get this charge off of my credit card! I have already made one call tonight and will be following up in the morning. What foolishness!!!!!!!!!!

Same problem here! Only my charge was $50.00 from a dinner at Garden Grill that 8 of us showed up for and I have already paid over $400.00. We too had two reservations that were combined. I am furious. There has to be a way to mark in the computer that both parties showed up. It is now my problem to get this charge off of my credit card! I have already made one call tonight and will be following up in the morning. What foolishness!!!!!!!!!!

That's some of the worst PR I've seen in a long time.
 
Maybe it would be wise to dispute the charge on your credit card? It would at least give you an opportunity to voice your side of the problem. Right now it sounds like nobody is willing to listen.
 
Ohh this reminds me to be on the lookout for these charges. We just got back last week from a 10 day trip. Attended all the scheduled reservations, but just afraid we'll still get charged after reading soo many instances of this.

Is it common practice to give multiple confirmations? I went with a large parties and we always got 1 confirmation number with a "warning" that we may split up. Wasn't sure if this was a new thing.

If guests can't get a reservation for enough people to fit their group, they often make two or more separate reservations and "merge" them when they arrive at the restaurants. It appears that in the act of "merging" the reservations, one or more of them are going down as no-shows or maybe a cancellation.

This was due to only having table sizes for smaller numbers in many cases. For example - at LeCellier I don't know if they ever show a talbe of 15, because they just don't exist.

In other cases, however, it was just that the CM making our reservations couldn't make it for that number of people...due to limitations, so he would make it into 2 reservations.

Just an update that the email resolved the issue within 2 days. Received an email back stating that the credit has been applied to my cc. So I was happy with the response time.
