Income Tax Question

I sent my IL State return in awhile ago and my check has yet to clear. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to clear? I've never had to pay before. I'm afraid that my return may be lost somewhere.

Did you not mail it using a method that is tracked? (Certified, etc?) ALWAYS send tax payments and the such via certified mail or some other tracked method. Been there, learned that lesson years ago with disappearing checks.

Hi!

I live in Illinois, and I had to file my Illinois income tax return later than usual due to a mix-up with my dad's death estate involving income probated from another state.

I sent the return to the Illinois Department of Revenue via certified mail. I received the green card with a stamped signature three days from the time I sent the return. However, the check that I had to send with the return was not processed for almost 5 weeks.

There is a telephone number that you might be able to call for information about the receipt of your tax return and check. It is for taxpayer assistance - 1 800 732-8866. Another telephone number is for the Comptroller's office - 1 800 877-8078.
