Ok please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong forum. I am looking at signing up for DVC and right now the offer is the following:

Match whatever points I buy as 2009 points. So if I purchase 200 points, then I will also get 200 points from 2009. Also a discount based on the number of points I purchase. Is this really the best deal I can get? Or is there something "special" I should say to the guy to get him to throw something else in?

Oh and this is for Bay Lake Tower.

Sorry to double post, but here's more info.

Rate is $120 per point. We are looking at buying 200 points so it would be $24,000. But the discount is 10%, saving us $2,400 off that price.

The Guides do not deal from prospect to prospect but the deals are different depending on where you are buying from. The remote sales locations will have different deals than WDW and different than DL and DCL. If have complained to DVD Management about their pricing policy and I was basically told that they have their reasons for the different incentives. :sad2:

Just in case you weren't aware you would have to have an August, September, October, or December use year to still get the 2009 points. There is not a July or November use year (or January and May).
As far as basically a $12 per point discount, I think this has been the usual discount recently for that point range, but I am definitely not the expert on that. :)

They had the $12 per point discount back in April when we bought in to BLT.

Well, back then we could either take the $$$ off per point, or get a short disney cruise. We took the $$$ off since DW isn't so sure she wants to cruise.

Also right now you can get SSR at only 90 a point direct from Disney

:rotfl2: - - unfortunately, DVC isn't like buying a car -- the price (and incentives) are set. If you want the 2009 points, make sure that your use year is after the date that you buy (but, if your Guide is a good guide, he would tell you that anyway). Good luck! :goodvibes

Now these incentives are only if you buy direct from Disney and not from the resales?? We are thinking of getting a DVC membership but want to get the best deal.

Incentives are only if you buy direct from Disney. Resale contracts are typically (with limited exception) cheaper than buying through Disney, sometimes by thousands of dollars for the exact same number of points, so resellers don't have to offer incentives to "get you in the door." If you want the best deal, I'd say definitely go resale (but be informed -- all resale contracts are not created equal and there are limited exceptions where buying direct actually is the better deal). :goodvibes

I just bought BLT, 160 pts on resale. I got all 160 2009 points, all 2010 160 points, for $103/point and closing costs of just around $500. It's a February UY. If Disney was running their Free Cruise, along with their standard 10% discount, I would've bought through them. But, I saved a nice chunk of cash buying BLT on resale.

I will say, the worst parts of doing this resale were waiting for the Disney's Right of Refusal process (took almost 30 days) AND, still waiting on the title company to finish the closing. The title company has been less than responsive. For example, I emailed the title rep asking "How long does the typical closing take". Her reply was "We will close as soon as we receive all the required documents from the buyer and seller". Umm....geez, really? Again, how long does that usually take?

I've read other complaints about slow-moving title companies (or company as there seems to be one big one who deals with many resale companies) on these boards.

I should clarify. I got two years' worth of points while paying for 160 points. So, it's essentially the same "deal" offered by Disney. But, the price per point is $9 less.
