Im back from the event. Overall, I was disappointed in the event. The event was not as good as the last event at Disneyland. Incentives now do not compare to the ones from the last event.

Here are my notes for incentives for new members. I didn't write down the info for current members but it is better but not as nice as the cruise incentive.

160 points - $5 off, 3 Night stay at the Grand Californian with Fast Passes

200 - $5 off, 3 Night Stay at the Grand + FP, $100 gift card, 7 Night RCI exchange

250 - $7 off, 3 Night Grand + FP, 2 Disneyland Annual Passes (They never said which AP level it was though), 7 Night RCI and 2 Night in the Concierge Collection (choice of either Hotel del Coronado or The Fairmont San Francisco)

320 - $9 off, Selection from Limited amount of ABD trips for 2 OR 3 Night at the Grand + FP, 2 night Concierge, 7 Night RCI, 2 Annual Passes and 1 Night in choice of either the Mickey Mouse Penthouse Suite or the Pirate Suite at the Disneyland Hotel

500 - $9 off, ABD for 2 on a larger selection of trips (many of the top trips missing) OR 7 Night in Hawaii (I believe it was Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa), plus the 7 Night RCI, and choice of Mickey Mouse Penthouse or Pirate Suite.

------

My notes might be a little off but that is what I wrote down quickly.

I am disappointed that at the last one they offered the Mickey Mouse Penthouse Suite aka the old dream suite once we got the one in the park built. Now that the one in the park isn't being used for the promotion, I would have liked to have a crack at the dream suite, I would have spent whatever it took to get a night there.

All the incentives seemed to be focusing on RCI. If I wanted RCI, I would have bought with them. Maybe if I buy from RCI they will offer me Disney incentives!

I got the ball rolling on 220 points as a founding member 2 days ago and was waiting to see if these incentives would be better. Im much happier with my 7 night Cruise for 4 people, $5 off and 2 Premium Annual Passes compared to what they were offering here.

Thanks for the information. Yes, these incentives are a bit disappointing. If you have info on incentives for current members, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

BTW, having just received our voucher for the RCI week from the travel show for buying BLT, let me tell you it is VERY limited. I wouldn't consider it an incentive at all. They called it a two bedroom exchange, but hardly any two bedrooms are available. They mostly offer studios and sometimes give you the opportunity to upgrade for a fee. But really overall there are hardly any exchanges available at all. I searched for anything warm in Dec-Jan and found only resorts in Mexico that are all-inclusive and you have to pay the astronomical all-inclusive fee.

Keeping an eye on VGC incentives, because I would love to buy there!

Not bad, but I'm not too sad with "just" getting $5 off a point and the developer points...hopefully we'll be in the system soon, as we were put on the wait list for GVC a week ago for 209 points. Unfortunately our guide is at DL, and is involved with the promotion, and her voice mail says that she can't get back to us until Tuesday. Oh well, we've waited a year, we can wait a weekend longer.

(The fast passes should be sweet, however!)

Hi, MagicalPins!

Two quick questions:

1. Did they give out any "freebies"?

2. Did they or have any drawings?

Thanks much for the updates! :goodvibes:):goodvibes

I heard you can go out two years with RCI, thus you might find better availability in Dec. 2010.

On the Doorway to Dreams RCI incentive we were told we would have 18 months (so not quite the same terms as a regular exchange). Haven't received my voucher yet, so not quoting the small print.

Yes, 18 months. You must book within 12 months of date on voucher and travel by 18 months. They're only showing exchanges right now for dates through May 2010.

I doubt choices will get much better, as they obviously are just giving us very limited choices. Sort of as if we had the worst exchange week to trade.

Really, don't mean to be pessimistic. I think I'm calling it as it is. We'll likely book a week in Puerto Vallarta at a very expensive All-inclusive. It has very good reviews, but will cost us around $2K for the all-inclusive charges.

I'd be happier with a week in Orlando at one of the mediocre timeshares that is at least close enough to go to WDW. (Even though we're spoiled with DVC--I'd just prefer a Disney vacation to the choices we're offered with this voucher.) They don't offer any choices in that region at all. Oh, well, we'll make the best of it.

Just a DVC bag. The question was, "What was the cost of a room at the Contemporary when it first oppened?

I believe the correct amswer is $27.00 per night.
