Incense in room?

Has anyone every burned incense in your room? I'm kinda sensitive to bad smells, and love a mild incense to mask them. We're staying at ASMu.

Is this a no-no, like smoking? I don't view them the same at all, but I don't want to do something that's looked down on, either. I wouldn't burn it much, maybe just once.

Seems to me this falls along the same guidelines as smoking. Incense is also a heavier smoke, isn't it? It make smell nicer, but I suspect you'll still be subject to the $500 fine they are rumored to be enforcing now.

Trying a can of Lysol, it's a better disinfectant as well. People who inhabit the room later who are allergic to smoke may be subject to the same via incense.

Personally, I like to puff on a good cigar every so often. But private/publicly traded businesses are perfectly free to determine their own rules, IMO...

I would think that burning anything would be against the rules. Anything with an open flame can be a large safety hazard for the resort as well. I would try to bring a neutral spray if you have to do anything.

Please don't.

For someone with allergies or asthma, an incense or candle might make them as miserable as cigarette smoke. Especially if you have a room with a connecting door - your neighbor will be sharing your scent, whether they want to or not.

Scents are such a personal preference; an incense or candle that smells heavenly to you may be really repulsive to another person. I like some of the Yankee scents, but some of them just make me gag.

Then there's the whole open-flame issue with candles.

If you want to freshen your room, you could pack a small can of room freshener, or one of the Glade solid air fresheners, or even a small container of Febreze. At least those scents won't linger for the next guest.

I agree with the others who say not to do it. Some incense is pretty strong smelling. In church, when they burn incense, it always starts a coughing chain reaction!

Another vote for no, don't do it please. To me THAT would be a bad odor I would have to try to mask if I stayed in the room after you. Go along with the air fresheners.

Please don't. Sensitive to bad smells? Use Lysol. It's not fair to other guests who will smell the burning in your room (and who may be quite sensitive to incense odors) ... personally, I'd never risk an extra $500.00 "smoking" charge on my bill.

we took a couple of the glade air fresheners to set in the bathroom... because um, they are usefull there. and a couple for the dirty cloths pile, cause they are usefull there as well after sweating though your cloths all day.

IMHO, insense is worse than most other smells. It is just too sweet for me. I know a lot of people like it, but I sure wouldn't want to have that smell drift into my room from another room. I'm with the other in suggesting you just get a good air freshner.

I think the OP has the answer he/she was looking for but....

I love incense. I'd love to burn it at my house. But my husband gets a stuffy nose everytime I do. Since I have the windows open at the house now, I can get away with burning it first thing in the morning but I have to make sure it's put out hours before he gets home.

If he walked into an enclosed room where incense had been burned, he would be uncomfortable. I think that's the key - the enclosed space with no way to air it out.

Febreeze makes a nice clean fresh air scented air freshener. I found it just before packing for our June, 2007 trip. We took it along to keep in our room. Like a previous poster said, you might need it for the bathroom and just to freshen up the room from that sweaty smell.

I kinda like the musty A/C smell in the rooms. It has become on of those "I am at WDW" smells.
Once I get into the room I take a deep breath, turn on the TV and wait for the first Waki-nu-nu commercial for Appliance Direct.

Oust makes an air sanitizer spray that has no scent, but neutralizes odors.

I would not burn anything at Disney, especially now. You could be charged for smoking.

If commercials had a smell, these would be worse than cigarettes and incense combined!
