Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

Ordered a shirt today from onemoremile.net...
Discovered them at the WDW Marthon Expo in January. Love their stuff!

May or may not wear it for the W&D, depending on the weather and how it fits.

It's blue and says:

"One Bad Mother Runner"

OMG I love that ha ha! :rotfl:

We are going to be there at the same time! I believe our time is technically 8:55 or something silly like that. I planned it late intentionally for two reasons. First, I am trying to shift our schedules back some for the race (eat late and sleep late.) Second, I'm hoping to see Hallowishes! I just LOVE that show! We are going to the party Thursday night but would love to see it from the restaurant too.

I will have to find you to say hello at least (if you dont mind a crazy DISer tracking you down at dinner :rotfl:)!! Maybe that way there will be a familar face for Saturday night as well :goodvibes Our ADR is for 9:10 pm, but I am going to make sure to arrive early to hopefully catch some of Hallowishes. We couldnt afford to do the party :sad2: but I am hoping we can at least see those fireworks :thumbsup2

I'm running in a 10K race this weekend to get used to the 'race day' feel. Also, I'm hoping to bring the time to the expo for the 1/2 in hopes of getting a better corral. Do y'all know what I need to get from the 10K race to bring to Orlando? Do races typically pass out certificates (I've only run in one race and I don't remember anything like that) or do I print off the race times from the internet?

Probably from the internet...I've never been to a race that hands out certificates with proof of time on race day!

I am soooooooo upset, Dis friends. First, I need to tell you that I LOVE WDW Marathon Weekend and all that goes with it. I got back into running a little over a year ago and did my 3rd WDW event. When the Galloway info came around (rundisney.com), I became VERY excited about the prospect of completing the full this year . . . heck I'm half way there. I have been waiting to register because my 10 year old is on a competitive cheerleading team that travels all over our area and beyond. Never, in a million years, did I actually think they would choose the week after Christmas Break to compete. But alas, they did, and I have an awful choice to make - one that will most likely not go my way. I love the timing of that race - how it fits right on to what I am already doing, how big it is, the excitement, everything. Consolations, please. Sometimes, I hate putting my kids first! ;)

I go through this every Spring. I have to pick and choose my races based on my kids sports schedules. It is tough. Good Luck.

OK the good and the bad for this weekend...the good is that I will be in WDW (yep, felt too guilty not taking the kids in October so since they have the next two days off from school we are doing a whirlwind trip with my SIL and her family) this weekend -- the bad is that my training schedule is out the window although I sure to get a workout with 5 kids under the age of 9 running through the World :lmao:

Flight leave in just a few short hours -- kids have NO clue :thumbsup2

I feel your pain! Between my two kids' competitive dance, all star and traveling sports teams, I'm lucky if I have a month that is totally free for planning what DH and I want to do! But I love being involved in their activities-- it's as much a family thing as it is their's. But I still have to remind myself over and over that some day I'll be begging them to involve me in their lives... and then I start planning what I'll do with all that time once that day comes! :rotfl: Hang in there! Maybe find another race to shoot for??

What a blast! Just hit the training hard when you get back and don't give it another thought! Enjoy...

Unfortunately I can totoally relate! My 9 year old DD is on a competitive gymnastics team. They always have a meet the first weekend in march - which also happens to be the Princess Half. We skipped her meet the first year and this past march I skipped the Princess Half so she could compete. I was so excited that they moved the date from Princess into Feb for 2011. Now I can run Princess! Well I just got her competition schedule and they moved that meet to the same weekend as Princess!! :sad2:

It is so disappointing. But like you said, sometimes I hate putting my kids first! She also has a meet Martin Luther weekend (right after marathon weekend in Jan), so we need to come home Tuesday after the marathon and then drive 6 hours to the next state a few days later!

Sorry you will be missing marathon weekend

That is awesome!! We did a surprise trip one year and when our kids saw us driving through the WDW gates, their expressions were priceless!

Have a wonderful time!!

You will print it off the internet. I asked about this for a 10K I recently finished and this is the email reply I received from Disney...

"Race numbers have been assigned for the half marathon. We cannot issue new race numbers for higher corral placement. However, you can still move into a faster corral. You will need to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relation's booths after you pick up your race number and DTag at the Expo on Friday or Saturday. This proof should be from a race of 10k distance or longer, a printout of what you pasted below, that you completed during the last couple of years. Please bring a copy of a finisher's certificate, a newspaper result, an online result or something that shows the race, distance, date and your time. At Runner Relations, the race staff will mark your race number to allow you to move into a faster corral. You must have that proof with you to get this change made."

:hugs: I feel your pain because I doubt I'll ever be able to compete in the Princess or the regular half / full and it is something I want to do so badly.

It's tax season and between 1/1 - 4/15 I pretty much can't go anywhere. It sucks.

And here is a photo of the half medal taken at the DL expo:

The relay medal is very similar, just a bit smaller.
