"I know that my feelings of loss and sadness over the events of 9/11 are shared with everyone on this site. In that vein, we have put a presentation on the DIS Home Page to pay homage to those who lost their lives. Our Design Webmaster, Corey Martin, came across this presentation, and thought it would make a fitting tribute for the site"

I did not think showing these pictures was a fitting tribute. It was not necessary to show the towers falling. The pictures were sensational, not a tribute. I avoided TV today because I did not want to see what I saw on the DIS home page. I just have to say that I am disappointed these images appeared on my screen tonight, especially since my 8 year old daughter was sitting near me at the time.

I'm sorry you were offended. I'm sure they didn't mean to, but it is reality that you and your children are likely to see most anywhere. I hope you're okay.

I just don't think they should show the towers falling anymore. Lots of pictures could have been posted from today - the placing of flowers at the site, the president at the sites, that kind of thing would have been ok - THAT was the tribute for today. I just did everything I could today to avoid alot of the memories and feeling from that day. I went to Walmart to return some shoes, and all the TVs were blaring with the coverage of the events from today. I didn't expect that but my goal was to get out of the store before the got to the B names, but didn't make it and heard someones' name. After that I did I made sure I got out before they got to the Cs and heard another name. That was upsetting enough, I didn't need to see the Towers come down again. I am sure they didn't mean to offend, but they didn't use good judgement by using pictures from last year. Everyone else has been restrained with what has been shown, I expected the same here. I am OK, but still very upset by certain images and reminders. Thank you for your concern. :D

I thought the tribute was very touching . I could have shut it off but instead chose to watch it in it's entirety. I felt it was very moving, however that's just my opinion.

I understand. It sounds like you know some of the people who died there. I'm sure it must be so hard. This would've been a good week to go to Disney World, huh.:(

This has nothing to do with Walt Disney Resorts - I'm moving it to the Community Board......

I thought it was a very moving and fitting tribute.
There is a disclaimer that says it contains disturbing images. Sorry to be blunt but if you didn't want to see the disturbing images, you should have hit the back button.

No need to hit the back button, there is an X at the top of the screen. As soon as I realized what I was seeing I closed the browser. I didn't linger and look at more. Everyone will have different opinions I suppose, I expect that. Some can handle seeing the images, others can't. I went to the tribute via a link from the boards. It didn't say on the post that some images might be disturbing, it just said it would be a tribute. Had it said that in the post I wouldn't have clicked on the link. I wasn't prepared for what I saw. Maybe it was a moving and fitting tribute beyond the inital picture, but I didn't stick around to see the rest because I was afraid of what I might see. No need to be blunt, because I am intelligent enough to do what I have to when presented with information I don't want to see or hear.

I have no problem with it. It's what happened. If you stay with it, you'll realize that this presentation was produced shortly after 9/11. Emotions were a lot more raw than they are now.

Yes - knew some, know of others who knew someone. Too many. Constant everyday reminders everywhere, all year. I am oversentive and will be for quite some time. I was at work that day, only for half a day. I couldn't wait to get over the bridge and get all of my kids home with me. Didn't know what was going to happen next, would they also try to take the bridges down? Could see the towers burning while driving down the road. Can't believe it has been a year, it doesn't seem that long ago. Last year I was planning a trip to disney in November and when all of this happened I almost cancelled. I did go and it was the best thing I ever did. No news or newspaper for 2 weeks. I was near panic before I went and I got such a sense of calmness being away from the area. We are going again in Oct, and going this week instead probably would have been a much better week!

*Please Note that the images in this presentation are disturbing*

So what exaclty did you expect to see? Sure you had plenty of time to think about it it took over 30 seconds to download with my cable modem.

Breanna, I'm sorry the tribute upset you. This is a very sad day for us all. {{HUGS}}

Well, while you wait 30 seconds for something to download - I am power surfing! I have AOL open and then I have the internet explorer opened on AOL and also open independent of AOL. So, I click on a link and go back to AOL to read my email, check my bank balance, check the weather and so on. So, I didn't see the warning before the images loaded. When I maximized that browser after doing everything else I got the images first. Don't assume and attack before you know what you are attacking.

breana, you showed courage and strength to start this thread ~ those are wonderful qualities. S

I haven't checked out the tribute yet, but I have been watching all of the coverage since 6 o'clock this morning..

Yes - there has been much that has been disturbing to me but I truly believe when the time comes that we no longer find it disturbing - or bury it so far back in our memories that we don't remember the horrendous graphics of that day - we will be leaving ourselves wide open for a similar (and probably even MORE devastating) tragedy..

I'm sorry you found the tribute inappropriate, but for others I'm sure it brought some measure of comfort..

Hope you feel better soon - and enjoy your next trip to WDW! Wish I were going too.. Unfortunately, that's where we were last September 11th and I will always remember it as one of the saddest days of my life.... :(
