Inappropriate costumes at MNSSHP

I just wish that the complainers would quit hiding behind the "I don't want the little children seeing all that "and simply say, they don't want their DH's seeing the costumes. Because little children have no idea there is anything sexy or provocative about seeing bosoms or legs.

:thumbsup2:lmao:

I could care less who wears what. I just find it creepy when it is very young girls with their parents. But if they don't mind if their teens butt cheeks and chests are hanging out who am I to care.

I believe we need to immediately dispatch a field research team to investigate this matter more thoroughly. I volunteer to lead the expedition.

Count me in. Perhaps we can get the ones who are the most outraged to fund transportation and lodging. Of course a few working dinners and cocktail hours to discuss the data collection and findings will also be necessary.

While I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment of the original post, I am suddenly even more excited about going to my first MNSSHP. pirate:

We would need a neutral location for these working dinners, some place where we won't be distracted by the task at hand. I suggest Hooters.

I might also suggest we engage in fact finding. That is, inviting the of-age ladies wearing such costumes to join us for interviews about their costume choices.

In order to truly understand the issue, we need to understand what is going through their minds, and as such, this means we need to have conversations in nonthreatening places where they can feel at their ease.

You will be bummed to see that what people wear is your standard party store costumes. So, imagine the costume on the rack, add 20-50 pounds to the model wearing it, and there you have the "risque" costume. Frankly, I thought it made the term NSS misleading. I saw plenty of scary things.

I'm thinking a classier establishment would be much more befitting a serious investigation such as this, like The Tilted Kilt.

As a father of 3, I guess I have been resigned to the fact, "the times have changed". I know things were different a while back. But we certainly arent in Kansas anymore Toto !!

If you really want to get a pulse of how things are with teens...offer to chaperone a dance at your local HS !!:scared1: If you want to question morality, let me know what parent signed the medical waiver for that 17 yr old to get breast implants !! ; (

I know Disney is a tabbed as a family place, but really, have you been to the local mall, McDonalds or even town soccer field. Our kids today are exposed to so much more behavior that was "adult" in the past.

I doubt there really is that much happening at a Disney park that you dont see anywhere else, every day of the week....and if an adult costume was really inappropriate, I feel confidant Disney security would handle that situation (perfect opportunity to sell another WDW sweatshirt !!)

Each member of the team would also need a few essential tools for the field research, such as a digital camera and mirrored sunglasses.

I am the mother of 2 teen girls...and despise how they dress. However, they don't dress any differently than all the other teen girls. In fact, unless they shopped at L.L. Bean or Land's End, they'd be hard pressed to find any store that doesn't carry the tight TIGHT jeans and low cut camis. It seems to me that we are just like every other generation of parents gone past. Every generation thinks the newest generation is living/dressing shockingly or inappropriately. There once was a time when it was scandalous for a woman to show her ankles! As awful as the clothes are, the times they are a-changin'.

So long as what the people are wearing is covering as much as they would be required to cover when in a resort pool I don't have a problem.... Last time I check small kids were allowed in the pool areas too... if someone has such issues with the human body, maybe a costume party isn't the best place to go.

Our jeans were a LOT tighter when I was a teenager! :lmao: Lift and separate!

And you could tell a boy's religion!

TRUE that! I remember laying flat on my back on the bed to FIGHT my way into my Jordache!!!

We were there on 9/30, and while we didn't dress up (other than our matching tie-dye mickey head shirts :thumbsup2 ), we saw some interesting choices. The majority were great (the Ghostbusters crew, complete with lighted backpacks), but to the lady across the street from us during the Boo to You Parade (the late one), I could've done without seeing the interesting bit of your breasticle... She was rather pooh sized, and her beer wench costume was a bit too small! There was also the girl who was wearing leggings that should've been worn UNDER a shirt/skirt...they were rather transparent, even though they were black, and she quite obviously was wearing no undies. But, my kids noticed none of it, and dh and I thought it was pretty hysterical. Disney is our favorite people watching place though!

Inappropriate, perhaps, but hardly revealing... And with just my luck, they'd turn out to be breast cancer survivors and I'd feel horrible for judging their costume.

I saw this picture a long time ago on another site. After some sleuthing (not mine), it was determined that this picture was actually taken at Mardi Gras, not WDW or DLR.

I agree with op.

With an average of 1 out of 3 children under the age of 18 being sexually abused in some way, (I was one of them) why would a parent encourage their child to dress provocatively? Not that children, no matter how they are dressed, can't become a victim.

However, letting a 14 year old dress like a 20+ year old provokes unnecessary comments, looks, and interactions that they are not mature enough, or psychologically prepared for.

As for the 'eye candy' comments, I don't think children should be 'eye-candy' to anyone....Kind of disturbing to me..

As for adults...to each their own. However, I am married. I am not looking for outside attention from anyone other than my dh.
