Inactive Reserves

Has anyone heard of someone from the Inactive Reserves being called up? My husband is in the Inactive Reserves, and we received a letter yesterday requesting that he re-enlists. But, if he does not sign up, the "US Army has the ability to arbitrarily and involuntarily" sign him up. I am started to feel a little stessed and wonder what the chances are my husband will be sent out.

It depends on the career field, but if he is inactive reserve, he is most definitely open to recall.

I know he can be recalled, I am just hoping it does not happen. He was in the Army and his job was something like being ahead of the tanks and telling them where to fire (you can probably tell I have no idea what I am talking about). Sounds like a dangerous job!! We have had a tough time in the last month (a murder in the family and 16 DS has been in the hospital twice--once airlifted and in ICU) I am just afraid this will put me over the edge. But, if he is recalled, he will proudly go and fight for this country. He says all the time if it was not for DS he would have already re-enlisted.

I think much depends on his training while in the military. I have heard of some inactive reserves being called up but if I understood them correctly it was because they had some kind of specialized training that there was big need for right now.

DH just said "yes" they can be called up. DH is active reserves now (he was an active duty officer for most of his career), but when he retires he will be inactive reserves until a certain age.
Though difficult, try not to stress over the uncertain. That is my motto right now !
