Hi everyone:

planning a trip for late Feb. 2004......

Looking for opinions on which you prefered and why. Swan or Dolphin????

Thanks

I have stayed at both over the last 2 years - most recent was the Swan. I honestly can't choose one over the other. I have really liked both my stays. One caveat - if you have young children and want to be close to fast food, laundry, and the Dolphin Fountain - then the Dolphin is the way to go. The Swan does not have a fast food type restaurant.

That has got to be one of the toughest questions...

We love them both!! They are very similar in a lot of ways, yet they do have their differences.

By the time you go the Dolphin will almost be done their renovations as well but being that we've stayed at both of these resorts numerous times now & have yet to stay in a renovated room that really isn't the first reason for staying there!

The Dolphin is larger, somewhat livlier (I can't spell today)...Tubbi's is very convenient there. The Dolphin Fountain is also convenient.

The difference between the rooms in the Dolphin and Swan (before renovations or after all are done) is the bed size. 2 queens in the Swan, 2 (oversized) doubles in the Dolphin. An extra sink in the Swan, an extra vanity area in the Dolphin.

The Swan is more intimate and I would say quieter but that's not always the case. Both are the same distance to the Friendship launch.

We stayed at the Swan several times before staying at the Dolphin and I didn't want to stay there because I thought it was too big, but we finally stayed and I was hooked on it! It's just so grand and has lots of conveniences, ie. the refillable mug.

I'm sure other posters will post their preference and I've probably been no help but we just love them both. The biggest differences are the sizes of the resorts. If you like the "big" atmosphere go for the Dolphin, if you like a more "intimate" atmosphere go for the Swan.

The bottom line is...you can't go wrong with either!:hyper:

I'm a Swan fan. It's closer to the Boardwalk and to the MGM walking path. If I want to catch the bus without having it stop at other resorts before it gets to its destination, I walk over to the Boardwalk and catch it there. Coming back, the Swan is the first stop on the bus loop.

We've stayed twice at the Swan. It is a lovely resort. The Swan does host a large number of conventions, so if you book the Swan, realize you will have lots of conference goers. Some of them don't have the true Disney spirit and give a little bit of a stuffy feel when walking around. Dolphin is definately more family oriented.

We got a good rate at the Swan in May, partially because our stay overlapped Memorial Day--this is just my opinion. Fewer conferences were scheduled MD week it seemed. The hotel just kinda emptied.

Dolphin does have more "stuff" like food and shopping (Daisy's Garden is wonderful and has great cast members!) I don't think you could go wrong with either. The walk between the Swan and Dolphin is no further than getting to the food courts at most Disney resorts if you are not in a prefered building.

Our room was on the front of the Swan (not facing Dolphin) and we could see both fireworks from Fantasmic at MGM and Illuminations. Not a prefered location, but I was very pleased.

Having stayed at both, we prefer the Dolphin. It just has more of the conveniences my family of 4 is looking for.

I do, however, prefer the bathroom configuration at the Swan (which they call a "hollywood bath") over the Dolphin's, but if I had to choose, I'd still go with the Dolphin.
