Complaining about the current website not being functional is one thing. Critisizing the competency of the Disney techs is another. As I have already stated, many factors come into play whenever an application is working or not : network issues, software issues, USER issues. Complain away about your inconviences, but lets put the comments about the techs to bed. Unless you are someone of expertise.........still waiting on that one.
I'm sure the Disney techs are well qualified and competent, but the decsion makers and designers obvioulsy don't have a clue what people want from a website. No reasonable person who has used the DVC website can claim that it is a well designed, functional website. Sure there is a lot of eye candy on the website, as there is on Disney's main site, but none of them are user friendly, and the DVC site in particular is nearly useless in functionality and is very buggy. Really, what does the DVC website do that is complex at all? Providing non-interactive information with linked webpages and pop-ups is basic stuff. The only "complex" thing that members want is some control over their accounts, and the limited control options they do have are down half the time, or are not available yet.
Point is, Disney has more money than God, but they apparantly don't want to spend the money on this kind of functionality that, with all due respect, can't be any more difficult than what a bank or financial institution does. Instead, Disney fills their websites with useless eye candy, graphics, multimedia, sound, etc., making it difficult, time consuming, and annoying to navigate and find the slivers of useful information and functionality. Just the lag time on their drop down menus drives me nuts, for example. They try to make them "bouncy" for visual effect, but its just annoying and makes you accidentally choose the wrong selection.
