During the whole hurricane Charley time, people have been receiving phone calls from people "claiming" to be the bank. Saying that they fear that they will lose people's account numbers and they are calling customers to get their account numbers so they can write them down on paper.

How cold are these people!! I fear that some people may have fell for this.

Not to sound insensitive, but come on. How would the bank get your phone # without having access to your account #? Besides wouldn't they have to say the name of the bank? How would these people know the name of the "victim's" bank? People just need to be smarter.

Sounds like an Urban Legend.....you have your account # printed on your checks and bank card...how is "writing it on paper" going to save it?

There are so many idiots that come out of the woodwork at times like this. When Opal came through here several years ago, we were listening to our police scanner. Gee, where do they come from?
We heard about two idiots out stealing tvs from apartments, drunks trying to get into other people's apartments, etc.... And, meanwhile, trees were falling right and left. The police dept. was backed up by 200 calls at one point! Real nutcases....
