I always forget about this and just happened to be talking to mom today and she mentioned it-

In the contract I remember it stating that disney has the right to search anything and it went into something on the lines of they can unwrap gifts that your guests bring into the park to make sure there isn't anything that's not suppose to be there kind of thing! My mom was concerned with this issue as she is not wanting to get there with things and have them unwrapped!

Question is... How many people have experienced this?? THANKS!

I guess the only time a bride would run into this is if you are walking from the international gateway to an illumination party....most of the time guests are busses into the backstage were there is no security line to go through

We had two guests insist on bringing a gift to the reception...both were wrapped and no one ever checked them...but we were bused to the backstage between America and Italy

Everyone will be bused in for ours as well since it is a LSS. Just a bit of a concern my parents had!

At Caryn's wedding we were bussed backstage to LSS. When the bus got to the Epcot gate the security guy got on and did a quick check of everyones bag and looked at everyone's ID. He didn't unwrap packages or anything like that and it was quick.

We had our reception at the LSS and were told the same thing. Security did look through people's bags. We just told everyone in advance that if they brought a gift that it couldn't be wrapped. To be honest we mainly got cards with money or gift cards. The one gift we did receive was in a Disney box, so security could easily open up the lid to look inside. I think it just depends on the day with security, so definitely give your guests a heads up. I had one aunt who brought a wrapped gift that she left on the bus and then gave to us after the reception was over and we were back at the resort :thumbsup2

Our guests walked into MGM (or DHS now) from the friendship boat and everyone had to go through regular security - it was quite the production!
