This isn't meant as a complaint. It's just kind of a situation that leaves you shaking your head in puzzlement and wondering how other people see things.

A cousin and his wife live next door to my elderly parents and my sister. A couple of years ago the cousin got a cat which has wound up staying at my parent's house most of the time. Let's just say that the cousins are not responsible pet owners and often wind up forgetting to feed their animals. :guilty:

Over the past two years, this cat has had several litters of kittens and, of course, the kittens wind up at my parent's house, too. They have been buying cat food to feed ALL these felines who are not theirs to begin with. They have said something many times to the cousins about the situtation. It goes in one ear and out the other...they always say they will do something but never do. My parents are not the type to keep pushing an issue so they've just gone ahead taking care of the kitties.

Well, last week the youngest kittens wound up on a car in the cousin's garage after being chased by some dogs. The dogs kept jumping up on the car trying to get the kittens and they left quite a few nasty scratches on both sides of the car. Now this is what makes me just shake my head...My cousin told my sister that they really didn't worry about it when the cats were bothering them but since they were now causing them (the cousins) problems, they were going to gather up all the kittens/cats and give them away. It just boggles my mind the way some people think...or don't think. :rolleyes1

I know I shouldn't but I have this little feeling of "YES" down inside that this happened to the cousins... :hyper:

I must do pennance... :teeth:

Your parents need to take that cat and get her spayed! Poor thing! Poor parents too. At least they were good enough to take care of the kitties. Hope they find a good solution for all involved! :sunny:

You are absolutely right that the cat should be spayed. Every pet my parents have ever owned were spayed or neutered. The thing is the cat does not belong to them so they don't actually have the right to have it done themselves. They have talked and talked and talked to the cousins about it and they keep promising they will have the cat spayed. I think they forget about it as soon as the words are out of their mouths though. They really have no business being pet owners because they are so irresponsible. My parents just do the best they can to take care of the cat and kitties because they can't stand to see them neglected.

I don't think it is your parents responsibility to spay an animal that doesn't belong to them. Or they could and then give the cousins the bill...

I hope they look for good homes for the kitties and not dump them somewhere. :guilty:
