***Please note that this information is something that came from a salesperson and I am NOT stating that what was relayed to us is indeed factual***

On our recent trip we stopped to talk to one of the sales people in the Contemporary resort (we had to grab a boat from there). We just started chatting about the building at Contemporary (she says they still will NOT confirm to any of their employees whether it is part of the DVC) and then we tailed into AKV.

She said that AKV has been selling very well and therefore they will be limiting any incentives soon. She said that (I believe it was end of May or June) that the cast member discount will disappear as well.

She also stated that SSR should be sold out within the next several weeks.

Again - I want to say this is just through casual talk (she was not trying to sell us anything, etc. as we were just chatting about our DVC ownership (she owned as well)). Take it as you may.

I spoke to my guide today regarding AKV and the incentives are still running ( for the moment anyway ). I may be adding on today.

Thanks for the post. The problem is, I'm a cynic. So when a timeshare salesman tells me a promotion is running out, a building is close to being sold out, etc. I take it as "BUY NOW!!!!"

Even if the talk is casual, we are hearing this from a timeshare salesman who is on the clock. I assume they are thinking ABC: Always Be Closing.

But it's still fun to hear what they are saying, even if there are folks like me who are going to be cynical about it.

I can confirm my DVC person let us know when we added on last week that SSR will be sold out by approximately July. We've been hearing rumours of this for a while and it looks pretty accurate. As for AKV, can't answer to that one.

We just added another 100 at SSR. We chose to add on to our home resort. The incentives were better. My guide said that SSR is almost sold out. Not sure on AKV or incentives.

IME, Sold Out is a funny thing with DVC.

When we purchased, we like VWL....but DVC had moved onto selling BCV (which hadn't opened yet) and we (and many other people) were told VWL was sold out. Also, from that point in time for the next two years, we constantly heard that HHI and VB were "close to selling out." It got ridiculous toward the end of the VB sales cycle, every week we seemed to get a postcard telling us this was our LAST CHANCE. (I bet if I call my guide today he'd be happy to sell me VB points). But back to VWL - it wasn't sold out, they'd moved on. And it didn't sell out - Disney has continued to ROFR contracts so there have almost always been some amount of points available. Its like a car dealer closing out last years models, your "last chance" - but if you really want a 2007 now, its sitting in the back lot.

Selling out to Disney means not actively selling, not that there aren't any points available.

if they are doing away with incentives for AKV - wondering if any incentives for CR (BLT) will happen?

Don't bet on this info! Kidani village is just getting ready to open up for sales, we are in a bad state of the economy right now. This giuy is using the "fear factor" in trying to generate sales. Like my Italian uncles tell me "Forget about it!!" :goodvibes

Kidani Village - or at least portions of it - have been on sale for a little while now. We "accidentially" got Kidani Village back in March instead of Jambo House.

I got an email last night "SSR almost gone". :rotfl2: from the DVCmember.com with my guide's name and direct line.

I have to wonder how many of those SSR incentive points they can continue giving AKV buyers. They have to have the SSR inventory in their possession, right?

Also, I found it interesting that my guide wanted to sell a December use year, but I mentioned that we like to go in October as well as February, and he told me that as of that morning they had a few October UYs left. This is days after people were on these boards talking about getting June UY. What this all means, I don't know though. :3dglasses

I feel that way too, but we bought in fall of '03. Points bought from Disney with specials were VB and BWV. They were also selling BCV, but I don't know about specials, we didn't ask about that. We bought BWV. Then in March '04, we visited VB and fell in love with the resort. VB had sold out by then, and we called from the resort asking our guide if we could add on, and was told they didn't have any. Now, I know about waitlists for buying, but that wasn't mentioned. We bought our VB contract on the resale market.

I am not sure it's Fear Factor as it is Disney knows that folks cannot keep thier mouths SHUT! So they tell the guides the date the incentives EXPIRE, but don't tell them ANYTHING else leading to this kind of talk.

I just got a postcard in the mail offering SS at 94/pt and a $500 gift card. So they still have incentives at SS.

Honestly I never felt like this lady was trying to scare us or pressure us into anything. We talked with her for about 45 minutes and of that time I would say only 10 of it was regarding DVC - the rest was just personal chit-chat. She was very nice and even traded pins with my 4 year old.

I mean she knew we owned DVC after us telling her we owned - and she didn't give us any sales pitch before we let her know we owned - so I don't know what benefit she would have gotten from "scaring" us. She had no clue I am a diser or that I even know folks who are interested (nor did she say anything like tell your friends/family). I found the conversation no different then had she NOT been a DVC rep (with the exception of her actually being one).

I'm sorry if I offended anyone on here by repeating what I was told. I didn't feel like I was being fed a line of bull at all (and I have a pretty good track record of knowing when I am). I thought some folks would find it interesting - I thought it was good news that AKV sales were doing so well - it reassured my decision to buy when I did (or so I thought).

I wasn't trying to insult you and I was not offened LOL!

However, it has been my expereince that guides are human just like the rest of us. So they get told "the AKV incentive ends 9/1" They ask in thier sales meeting "what's next" Disney executives KNOW something is next and might even now WHAT is next. Disney executives KNOW that if they tell the guides any and/or ALL of them will talk since they are human. So they say "nothing" That becomes..."the incentives end 9/1 and there is nothing after that" Then on 9/1 they hand out something "new" the guides.:rotfl: It's kind of like the guides who keep admitting they really don't have many detials on the Bay Lake (or Kingdom) Towers. Disney isn't telling them LOL!

I don't blame your guide, I am certain she was telling you what she believes. And I don't think there is anything wrong with you posting what she said. I don't think she was trying to "scare tactic" you or anyone into buying.

I just think that Disney executives have learned...don't tell CMs stuff:rotfl:

(And Guides are generally much better then bus drivers who have been extending that monorai for 20 years LOL!)

I liked all your disclaimers that was funny:thumbsup2 You tried!:goodvibes

Thanks CarolA - I thought I might have upset some by my postings.

Drag n' fly - I work in a situation where it seems that I have to put disclaimers on everything - even in situations where you would think common sense prevails. Force of habit I guess...:)

They actually announced VWL as sold out then a year later formally reopened sales there for another 6 months (1.5 years after being "sold out").
