Just closed last week on a membership (310 pts.) at BCV done through The Timeshare Store.

Everything went relatively smoothly and thanks to this board I was able to have an idea of when I would be in the system.

I called DVC this morning and I was indeed in the system and they gave me my membership number.

I then attempted to book BCV for October 08 and she said it was available and tried to book it.

She then said that she couldn't book it because my points had not been deposited yet. Confused, I asked if that was something I needed to do, or if it was simply an internal process. She said it was an internal process and that the person that normally deposits points was on the phones today because it was very busy.

I said I'd not heard of this before and that I thought once you had your membership number and available points you could book. To her credit she put me on hold and talked to her supervisor.

She came back and said that the room is on hold under my membership # until points are deposited in my account. I asked her what my next step should be, and she wasn't sure.

Anybody experienced this before? I suppose my best plan is to just call back everyday until the points are there. Any other thoughts?

If the reservation is on hold, there is no need to call back daily.

As far as depositing your initial points, my understanding is that there are staff members in accounting that make sure all the legal stuff with the contract is kosher, and there are no outstatnding balances from the previous owners or anything that have to be cleared, and they verify that the number of points available is as shown, and then your member account receives its "deposit" of points. Sort of like a bank account may be set up but waiting for a deposit to be made. It also seems to be normal for a day or so to pass between the account being opened and the points showing up. With Member Serviices facing their busiest booking period of the year, they may haved pulled the CM from this duty to staff the phones. I'd call back in 3 or 4 days.

We faced something similar 2 weeks ago. We were told that the team of individuals that work on "uploading the points to the system" were totally over worked right now, and many of them were manning computers and phones to assist MS in making reservations for DVC members during these peek booking weeks. They suggested that it would likely take 3 or 4 additional days for the points to load.

We called back 4 days later and Voila, our points were there, and we were able to book.

I have the same thing happening to me my points are not in but i am in the system with a member number but they could not give me a pin code either for online. But they would not hold any reservations for me. I have 512 points coming. I want to go in May they are only 10 rooms left at Old key west and I want to go in August and the in December but they will not hold anything for me.

Makes me feel quilty about calling day by day but each MS person I talked to told me that is the way to go.

Having closed on BCV at the end of October last year (BTW Welcome Home Neighbour:flower3: ), we too were in the system but the points were not yet uploaded.

There was never any suggestion of them holding the booking for us, so we called back each day until the points were available to use.

HTH

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like my situation is not unique and I'm thankful Disney was able to hold the room regardless. Thanks for making me feel better.;)

Our account had some issue that the DVC IT dept. had to get involved with--it had been almost 10 days since closing and we were still not in DVC at all. Because of the issues, once we got into the DVC system (with no points showing), MS put a "hold" on our reservation in our acocunt, until the points were also manually loaded--they told me to call back late the following week to apply the points to the reservation.

update I am in the system and made all my reservations today we closed on Wed and in the system today. Tracy

Congratulations, we also closed last week. The contract is on line but no points. MS says it may take a few more days. Resale contracts are not a priority.

And they say that resale customers are treated the same as direct buyers!
:rolleyes1

They are, once their paperwork is complete and they are in the system.

Understand that folks that buy direct have less time in the process than those that purchase resale. Direct purchasers don't have to go through ROFR, as their is nothing to review on the purchase, they are also in the system faster because they don't have to verify the contract, as far as seeing that the points as represented truly are as they appear. For new contracts from Disney they don't need to deal with banked/borrowed points, or separating an add-on from its master contract.
