Hey y’all. I’m new to the DIS, this is my first trip report. My little family and I just returned from our second trip to WDW of ’09. We had a wonderful time and I wanted to share a little of the magic with you!
We live in metro Atlanta so we drove down early on Nov 19th. Maisie (22mo) was surprisingly good during the car ride. All she could talk about was “No Wite” (Snow White) and “Big Da-Boom” (Big Winnie the Pooh).
We arrived at Animal Kingdom Lodge at about 1pm and were met by a concierge representative at the door. He actually saw us coming and knew who we were! I was so relieved to be able to check in early. He took us straight to our room. We stayed club level on the 4th floor.

From our room we could see zebra, giraffe and all sorts of wild cattle and antelope. After we dropped our bags off we went off in search of food. We are vegetarian so we were fully prepared to be eating cheese pizza for 5 days straight. We were pleasantly surprised by the quick service restaurant “The Mara”. They had the standard cheese pizza and a “veggie” which featured goat cheese and olives (yum). After lunch we headed back to the room for a quick nap then ate dinner at Boma. It is a buffet, but I was kinda disappointed at their options. We ate enough, but I was hoping for some vegetarian entrees and instead felt like I was filling up on sides. Overall it was good, but I wouldn’t have paid for it if we weren’t on the dining plan! After dinner we decided to take a dip in the pool. I loved the layout, the fact that it was zero entry was great for Maisie, it wasn’t however quite as “heated” as I expected. We splashed around for a while then headed to bed to rest up for Animal Kingdom!

Friday the 20th was our fist day at a park!! We headed out to Animal Kingdom bright and early. We went straight back to the Kilimanjaro Safari. The line was short and the animals were awesome! I was very impressed with the layout.
After the safari we sought out Mickey & friends for a photo opt. We were a little worried about how our toddler would react to the characters, but needles to say she was beyond thrilled!

After the pics we headed to Dino land so that the little one could have some fun. She loved the “boneyard” play ground and the TriceraTop Spin.

After lunch we headed back to Rafiki’s planet watch. Maisie was less interested in the animals and more into Jiminiy cricket

At this point it was becoming obvious that naps were a necessity. We went back to the hotel for a rest then headed to Epcot for the evening. Lots of the Christmas decorations were up and the park looked beautiful! After Spaceship Earth and the Maelstrom, we found a spot to watch Illuminations! Well, that was the first big flop of our trip. Maisie HATED the fireworks. Fortunately she didn’t scream and cry, she just held her eyes shut and maintained a death grip on her daddy!

After about 20 minutes we called a close on day 1.

Saturday Nov 22 we decided to take a rest. We had breakfast at Chef Mickey’s which was wonderful, especially for vegetations (though maybe not vegans). We ate lots and took tons of great pictures.

Mickey came back to our table 3 times. Maisie wouldn’t stop hugging & kissing him!

After breakfast we headed to the Boardwalk for a bike ride. Maisie enjoyed waving at everyone, and my hubby and I had fun burning off our breakfast!

We stopped in the Boardwalk bakery for a bite and were pleasantly surprised with their mozzarella tomato sandwich (tasty). By now it was nap time (again) so we rested up and headed out to Fort Wilderness for Mickey’s backyard BBQ. I’ve got to say I was not impressed! It was like total and complete mayhem! It took forever to get there, it was super crowded and the food was subpar. Maisie was one of the youngest attempting to “dance” with the characters. Poor baby girl didn’t have a chance.

The other kids (and their parents) totally mobbed the characters. She opted to dance with her little Minnie.

She did get some love from Chip. Look at that smile...

Sunday Nov 23
Bright and early on Sunday we headed to Magic Kingdom. YAY. As soon as we entered we headed to Harmony Barber shop for Maisie’s first haircut.

The shop is small (only 3 chairs) but fortunately there wasn’t a very long line. Our barber Michael was wonderful. He was so sweet and patient with Mae. He gave her about a thousand stickers and spoke very quietly with her. She loved it. After the hair cut he presented us with a certificate, a lock of her hair and of course “first haircut” ears! Not bad for $14 (plus tip). I totally recommend it!

We had a wonderful time at Magic Kingdom. We saw Pooh & Tigger, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty & Belle.

We rode several rides: Small World, Pooh, Tea Cups… Check out DD’s face on Small World. She was having a full blown happy attack. I think the Tea Cups made her a little dizzy 

After some snacks we headed back to the hotel (for a nap.. of course). (Side note: I thought all of the naps would be a drag, but it gave my hubby & I time to relax too. So it really worked out). Back at Magic Kingdom we ate at Crystal Palace.
I love this pic of Mae waiting patiently for our table. She LOVES Minnie. Also as we were waiting for our table we watched the fairy godmother light up the castle for Christmas! So pretty!

The food at Crystal Palace was good, and our server (Gustavo) was wonderful. I was pleased with the buffet spread. The big bummer was that we were seated just as Pooh & friends left our section! We were in a hurry to finish dinner because we were meeting up with some family members for the evening. Our server worked it out for Maisie to see a couple of the characters on our way out.

After dinner we meet up with my cousin and his family. They were at Magic Kingdom celebrating their son Ethan’s 4th birthday. Together, we enjoyed Buzz lightyear, the carousel, Snow White, the flying carpets & Pirates.

We debated about watching the parade and decided instead to take advantage of the short ride lines. Luckily as we were leaving Adventureland we managed to catch most of the parade. The kids both LOVED it. Maisie was mesmerized and Ethan kept asking for more. We finally made it back to our room at around 11:30 and we all crashed. I was surprised that Maisie stayed awake so late without any whining. I think she thought she was already dreaming.
Monday Nov 4
On Monday we decided to do a catch-up day. We headed back to AK first to ride Expedition Everest. We got the ticket for the ride share parent swap thingy. My hubby rode first, and I took Mae to Maharajah Jungle Trek to see the tigers. After about a 25 min wait my hubby called to tell me it was my turn to ride. At this point we discovered the single passenger line! I waited like 4 minutes to ride Everest, much faster than the ride share. The ride was really fun! My hubby insisted on riding again then we headed back to MK for the rest of the day. Back at MK we found Snow White (at last). Mae was so thrilled!

The lines were much longer than when we had visited on Sunday, but after about an hour we finally got to ride Dumbo. Maisie LOVED it.

After dumbo, we relaxed at Mickey’s philharmonic. Maisie wore her glasses for about 2 minutes then got completely freaked out. She enjoyed the rest of the show without her glasses.
We found the yummy mozzarella & tomato sandwiches at Main street bakery and were delighted that the “side items” on our meal plan were any of the delicacies at the bakery. Mae picked out a huge cupcake and hubby & I shared a delicious chocolate cake.
After lunch we took the train around the park. Poor lil girl was so sleepy.

After naps we headed to Hollywood studios.

Unfortunately many of the shows (including the Play House Disney show) were over for the day. We caught the Little Mermaid show found some dinner then walked around. The Osborne Christmas lights were spectacular! We decided to take turns on the Star Wars ride. After my turn we had a pretty major dilemma. My hubby realized that one of Maisie’s blakies was missing! At this point it was already about 10 so we headed to the car hoping her blankie was there since it wasn't in her stroller. Back at the car, no blakine. After some freaking, hubby finally headed to lost and found and praise the Lord he came back with Maisie’s beloved baby! I’m so thankful that someone turned her blankie into lost & found!!!! Thank You! With her blankie found we headed back to the hotel to pack and rest before the long drive home.
Overall we had a wonderfully magical trip! I can’t wait to go back!

Great report! I loved all the pictures of Maisie!

I'm so glad you joined the DIS. And it's funny, but I keep forgetting y'all are vegetarians now! I'm surprised Boma didn't have more veggie choices.

Now it's time to start planning your next adventure!

Thanks Elisabeth. I should have checked out DIS before my trip. Some of these reports are amazing. So detailed! I just kinda threw some pics together. I've got plans for my next one. Yes I said next one, as in we are definitely going back to Disney. I'm thinking fall 2010 Grand Floridian.
