In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Paula--here is my protein powder of choice:

Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder.

It has ZERO carbs, 2g of fat, and a whopping 26g of protein per 100-calorie serving (1 scoop).

I prefer the chocolate flavor and put a scoop in my oatmeal. I also have no problem mixing it with just water and drinking it down. Most people mix it with milk, but I usually want to forgo the added calories so I will just drink it with water and slam it (it isn't horrible, though...sort of reminds me of slim fast. Tastes chocolaty but has that slight after taste). I am not a coffee drinker, but I know folks who mix it in with their iced coffee.

It is available all over the place, even Wal-Mart, though we all know I don't shop there! :lmao: But most drug stores have it, and for those in the mid-west, it is at Meijer's. Not sure about Target, but likely. I get mine from drugstore.com often when I am placing orders for other stuff. (Note: so much cheaper buying certain household meds and toiletries from drugstore.com. And yes, they have free shipping.) It is also one of the least expensive forms of whey protein, so overall a good choice. You should pay anywhere from $12 - $16 per huge container. The price on Amazon is $32 but realize that is for TWO containers, so still at the right price point, just a tad on the higher end.

Thanks for the info... I'll check it out. I knew you would have the 411 on this for me!

Ha! EriKa you are full of good things today.

Kelly - YES!!! GO see New Moon, awesome! Your trip is jam packed. My goodness. Sounds like fun.

Ronda - so excited for you!! I can hear it in your words. Good looking out EriKa.

Nancy - excited that Seth is coming home. Dawn, when will Treynor be in?

Hi to all of you.

I am pooped. Spent the weekend cleaning construction debris. Story of my life. Long week ahead of me doing the same. Thank goodness for my sister who is helping me!

Have a good lead for Zhu Zhu pets in the am. My bff is on the case and has befriended the Walmart Toy Dept and has them calling her. Hi Lar Ious! She is a force for sure.

Need to get fitted because my cross trainers won't cut it anymore. Hoping the knee twinge is nothing serious.

Ok. Angry eyes will come out soon ;) Cross trainers are great for....well...cross training, not marathon training. You are hereby assigned to get proper running shoes for your training. got it?

Nancy - hang in there!!! Didn't Seth mention something about sharing his workouts with you to torture you? Something to look forward to right?

Yes. I believe his exact words were "I'm going to break you".

Nancy--you must be out of your mind excited to see Seth! Can't wait to hear all about it! Has Becca been living in the sweatshirt??

Indeed she has. I may need to have an intervention soon

Paula--here is my protein powder of choice:

Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder.

We use protein powder from Peak Nutrition. This was the brand that they used and sold at our former gym, and we really like it. We order straight from the source (www.peaknutrition.com). We get it in the 5 lb buckets - yep. we use a lot - but it's more economical that way. I think it comes out to about $7/lb in the bucket. They have lots of flavors, always something fun on sale, but we typically stick with chocolate and vanilla.

who ever said Walmart was evil? Look at them go with their customer service ;)

I read that line and all I could think of was the Rocky movie where he fought the overly blonde russian. I think the russian said the same thing...

Thanks Nancy - I will check out the protein powder and new sneakers are on my list of things to get ASAP. I promise...

Shoes - $30
Dress - $160
Bouquet - who knows how much, but absolutely beautiful and I got to keep it!
Finished with the wedding - PRICELESS!

Yeah, I mastered the possibilities. I can't wait to get back in the grove again. I have blisters from hot glue guns and flattening irons, along with pretty cool new toes. The day is done and thank goodness I didn't catch the bouquet, lol. Oh, I got alot of comments on my dress.

So here I am sitting at the University Center and it is raining. Ugh! I hate that. Only 4 more classes to go and my semester is over. I have loved this program. Not easy, but I wouldn't have wanted that. Anywho, I will catch up with everybody later tonight.

Lyz - went to 3 stores and couldn't find a Zhu Zhu here. Still on the look out though!

Amiee - I want to see a picture! Glad you got thru it!

Thanks for looking!

yeah Lyz!!!!!

Hey gang... strange night. No JC for me tonight thanks to a meeting for work. My appointment is Thursday this week. Went to the gym and spent the first hour talking w/ Jesse about all sorts of stuff. Hadn't even made it to the locker room to change yet when he called me over - thinking that a little anonymity at the gym would be a good thing from time to time. Finally made it to the treadmill and got a good 45 minute walk in. At one point, I was doing a sub 14 minute mile. Couldn't hold it for more than my three minute interval, but I'll take it.

Amiee - glad to hear you made it through the wedding. So want a photo... Don't make me get the others on your case - just sayin'

WOWZA, Lyz....:lmao:

Good job on the pace, Paula!

EE--another vote for posting pics!

Back from campus. My jaw actually hurts from talking so much! :chat:

Back to work...long night tonight!

As soon as I get out to my aunt & uncle's house, I will post them. I have Friday off, but might be able to get out there sooner. <shhhh! Don't tell my mom, because she doesn't know>. My aunt (mom of the groom), forgot to take pics on my camera. :( So I don't have any of me. Some of the groomsmen are going to email some to me too.

Look at this! I put the thread to bed and woke it up. It's back to the gym for me today. I took off Saturday - Monday because of the wedding. And trust me, I got plenty of steps in Sunday to count as a workout. The stairs were outragous. My goal is to get endurance up.

Morning! Today is Kelly's 7th Birthday! So I will be busy getting ready for her "family party" tonight. Up and at 'em! Who is going to the gym today? Who is going for a run? A bike ride anyone???

For those who need accountability, post food!

:cheer2::cheer2:Happy birthday Kelly! :cheer2::cheer2:

Today is a run day for me. I drive to work, run, shower and head for my desk. As I drove in today I saw that the track I run on is covered with water. I can go around puddles, but that much water combined with the wet rain/snow falling sent me straight to the shower.

If it gets a chance to dry out I will try the track this afternoon/evening. I really, really don't like the treadmill. Another knock on the treadmill is this is an interval day (r3/w1) and that gets old for five miles on the TM. Last resort is to flip today and Thursday which is a solid run and go to the Y this afternoon.

As for food. I am struggling to find healthy variety. The salad bar has declined in quality/variety in our building (new vendor). I am ravenous in the afternoon and have been looking for more protein to stave that off. I am interested in the chocolate (mmmmm) whey protein powder in my oatmeal. Breakfast and dinner are solid. It's the middle that I have such trouble with. Also contributing is a lot of boredom at work.

Paula - great job on the speed. Those bursts of speed lift everything. Shoes?

Ronda

Good Morning...

Happy Birthday Kelly!!!!!

Disney Wishes and loads of Pixie Dust for you today :wizard:

I am off to lift some weights tonight with Jesse. Nursing some knee pain today, mostly in the back of my knee. My Project Engineer thinks it may be a lower hamstring pull, but we aren't positive of that yet. I am going to talk to Jesse tonight about it, but thoughts from you experienced folks are welcome and frankly encouraged. Still have a few weeks before the official training schedule begins so I may take it easy and bike for the rest of the week. We'll see how it goes.

Still need to get new shoes, but don't think I will be able to get out and get fitted until the weekend due to work and family stuff.

Food wise, I am getting better but still not great. Somewhere along the way, my sweet tooth went into hyperdrive (its gone plaid I think). Still trying to reign it in, but at a complete loss as to how at this point. Ugh... dieting sucks sometimes...

OK - time to get some work done. I have some contractors who want to get paid and I need to review and approve their payments. Talk to you all later...

Paula--lower hammie pull is definitely a possibility. Any swelling? Could be a strained PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) but that would be pretty painful. More likely a popliteus injury, which is just a pulled or strained muscle. I'm leaning toward this last one as a popliteus muscle injury almost always happens due to overuse. And given how frequent and intense your workouts have been, that seems to fit.

Knees and kindeys...my medical specialties! :lmao:

Hi all - dealing with some medical cr@p involving Ovarian cysts and TOM. Haven't been able to excersize since last Wed with all this so I miss the workout. Hopefully can get the go ahead to start back on Thursday.

Not gaining any weight though so that is good.

Kelly - happy b-day and what a great trip.
Ronda - awesome race!
Paula - hope this thursday goes well
Dawn C - sorry for your friends loss
Cathie - that would have been me on the ice as well I am afraid. Visualizing race and acheiving it are 2 different things!
Lyz - hope the hampster shows up!
Nancy - sorry you gained back the 2 lbs but at least you caught it early.
E - like the corn nuts story - ( For me though, we had 4th grade snack/movie the last hour of the day on Friday's if we were good for the week and everyone brought corn nuts. The smell would make me ill and to this day - still does. Maybe as a further weight loss method I can inventa corn nut candle and burn it in the house to prevent hunger...hmmmm...) Really sweet of Jeff.

Anyone I missed...HI!:)
Carsyn got her braces off yesterday and is loving life and she looks simply stunning plus she finally got hired for a job and should get her liscence this week so a trifecta!

Baylor leaves for a 3 day field trip that is outdoors tom. A sort of bonding/trust camp that all the 8th graders attend. Need to pack him tonight.

Have a great day all!

First things first here...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY! pooh:

Who is going to the gym today? Who is going for a run? A bike ride anyone???

I went to the gym and had quite the self-inflicted @ss kickin'. A combo of strength work with bursts of cardio thrown in for good measure. And my lovely little friend Erin was there - God help me. She spent the weekend at a conference in Boston. The *crap* that she was making people do this morning looks absolutely horrendous. :scared1:

I am interested in the chocolate (mmmmm) whey protein powder in my oatmeal.

oh yes. It's yum. I throw in some choc protein powder & either a bit of s.f Nesquik powder or a packet of s.f. hot cocoa mix. :lovestruc

Frustrating that your work out plans got sidetracked - but I like that you have alternatives already figured out!

Nursing some knee pain today, mostly in the back of my knee.

When did this pain start? I know I'm starting to sound like a nag, but shoes, shoes, shoes. It may be resulting from the TM & speed intervals, etc. Take care of it - if you don't let it heal itself now, you may end up with a worse injury later.

Dawn - nice to see you! :goodvibes Hate to hear that you've been sidelined. Here's hoping that you are back in that pool soon!

Carsyn must be beside herself excited! When does Treyner come home for Thanksgiving?

Me? My food yesterday was plentiful. I tracked it, and it wasn't pretty. Not quite up to Kelly's milestone of 50+ points in one day, but certainly not where I need to be if I have any hope of shedding these execess fat cells I'm currently sporting. I'm off to a better start today, and have a solid plan in place for lunch & dinner, so the outlook is improving!

time to get some *stuff* done.

Thanks E - I am googling the terms you have been throwing out there next. Knowledge is a beautiful thing.

Nancy - the pain started after Sunday's walk and got worse after last night's run. I am definitely listening to my body on this one and plan to take care of this now. Shoes are first and foremost on the list of things I need to get and Saturday is the day for that. I promise not to hit the treadmill again without them. I am hoping Jesse can give me some direction on this tonight. Don't want you to have to come up here right? You might bring Erin with you and then I would really be screwed. Can you imagine you, Erin, Erika and Jesse at one of my workouts? That would truly send me off the deep end... :rotfl2:

Seriously, I promise to get fitted for the proper shoes and take it easy over the next few days to see what is going on.

Thanks for caring - truly.

Dawn - sorry to hear that you are having issues and off your workouts. Hang in there and plan to get back to them. Yeah for Carsyn! Three huge milestones in a teen's life are here.

Okay, food accountability so far for the day...

egg whites omelet with 1/4 cup cheese (I cut it back from 1/3 and didn't even notice the difference) and veggies. Small apple juice......and....2 chocolate chip cookies lol. They were a thank you gift from someone in another dept for our work on a system implementation....have to eat them if they're a gift, right? :rotfl:

If I haven't yanked out all my hair over the next two weeks it will be a miracle. Tonight, school. Tomorrow night, meeting for this weekend's wedding cake and writing a paper that's due for Thursday's class (procrastination, anyone?! lol) Friday, taking the day off work. Going to the school's tutoring center to get some help so I can pass my math placement test (if I don't, they make you take "pre-math" course from the local community college that is so basic it makes you want to puke, and gives you no credit but you have to pay for it), then going shopping for supplies and starting this weekend's wedding cake. Hope to get all the cakes baked and built and crumb-coated to set. Making the pine trees from rice krispie treats so have to get these made Friday too... Saturday, funeral in the morning for Janelle, figuring I'll probably get home from the wake around noon or one, then working on the wedding cake all day and night until it's done. Sunday, wedding at three, showing up at 2:30 to set it up. Wedding and reception most of the day Sunday. Monday Tuesday Wednesday work but no school (yay! :woohoo:) Thursday Thanksgiving and Friday no work and working on my final projects for school. My blood pressure rises just thinking about it all! lol. I think I'm not going to take any major cake orders for the rest of the holidays so that I have some down time. Dec. 12th is my last day of finals and I don't go back until Jan 19th so I want to take some time to just relax and enjoy the holiday season.

Hope everyone's week is going well so far. This week is crazy at work since they put a lot of system implementations in over the weekend, which never goes as planned, so dealing with all the system issues yesterday and today. Going to be a fun day!

K. Back to work. I'll try to be around later this week.

Paula, sorry about the injury. Sounds like a hamstring pull to me, as well. Good news is that with some rest and ice, you should be good as new in a few days. I would say try that and then if it doesn't get better, see a dr.

My personal opinion is to do only upper body workouts in the meantime, though, and maybe even skipping a few days in favor of ice and elevation. Better to let it heal than to be laid up for a week or more with a more severe injury, either through aggravating the one you have more, or creating a new one through overcompensation.

Ronda, I hear you on the food at work. I do the worst between 3 and 5PM, and then again between 10PM and midnight. Mindless eating. I need to figure out a way to make it stop.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!! :yay: :yay:
