In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Hey all. Gosh, thanks to EriKa & LisaV for keeping the thread alive.

Busy weekend on my end. Molli & my husband took a motorcycle ride to Gatlinburg TN. 7 hours on a bike (one way). No thank you. They had a great time. Home safe. I'm pleased with that.

Maddi had a Princess Protection Preview Party Friday night. 4H camp on Saturday and I took her to the Columbus Zoo on Sunday. I didn't stop. Must grocery shop this evening.

Kat - sorry your games were a bust. Lots of practice though.

Paula - glad you had a good time. Guacamole. YUM.

E - sorry we keep missing each other.

Nancy - I want to hear about graduation. Liz - I want to hear about the shower. Amiee - I need to hear about your trip. Amy - birthday details. I will start whining.

Off to work.

I got on the scale....And it showed. I'm up 15 pounds since my lowest in early March.

But it's a new me. I would have freaked in tears and disgust merely a year ago. Jean says, "Lisa - we have been under such stress - taken away from regular workout areas etc - your own kitchen - give yourelf a flippin' break will ya!". And I actually listened. :rotfl:

I know what I want. 190s - 14s everywhere - not just hit and miss in some stores. And fit. Don't want to go much past - I'm vain - my face needs the fat!!!!!:lmao: Aging - face or body. :lmao:

I know Lisa. I know. Things will settle down when you are in your new house. I'm proud of you for not freaking. So hard.

Hi--I would have posted earlier, but my Kindle came today. :lmao: I know, I am such a tech geek at heart!

LisaV--sounds like you have the right attitude about your weight--good! No stressing. Just once you get back to being settled, you will get back to your exercise program. Don't sweat it. :goodvibes

Kat--wow, those are some losses, eh? But you know what? You got out there! And that is what totally counts! Super proud of you!

Nancy - I want to hear about graduation. Liz - I want to hear about the shower. Amiee - I need to hear about your trip. Amy - birthday details. I will start whining.

Off to work.

Word, word, word, and word! Nancy, Liz, Amy, and Amiee. Post. Like now, k?

sorry for the lack of posts... feeling kind of blah today. I'm sure it has to do with the let down after a great weekend and now it is back to the same old grind. Not to mention the fact that I ate way too much so I feel like I am about to burst.

Kat - sorry to hear about the losses, but as I say after a bad round of golf - a bad day on the golf course sure beats working.

I have JC tonight and then I am dragging this big ole butt to the gym.

I'll catch up with you all later...

Oh, it was no big deal really. I didn't mind the losses, but I really do hate early morning games.

The first team we played was our "sister" team, who is two levels above us. We knew going in that there was no way that we even had one chance. They apologized for running up the score like that, but goal differential is a tie-breaker in this tourney so it would have sucked for them to be nice to us and have that cost them the medal.

The second team, were the U-16 (under 16) jr girls. Most of them have grown up playing boys hockey, and most of us could be their mothers.

The third was actually really nice, and I think the score would have been closer but our goalie by this point was about 60% hurt and couldn't get up and down easily.

There were a lot of reasons why we forfeited the 4th game, but the goalie's situation was a big one... also, the other team had a rep for playing not only much better than us, but dirty. I would have rather played the game anyhow, but oh well.

I am definitely wanting Lyz-style details on Jodi's shower and little D's party and EE's trip and Nancy's graduation!

I am so late checking in today!

The concert was fabulous! 50,000 people, open air concert, lots of screaming and dancing - a good time had by all! I have NO voice today, barely a croak - its sounds very attractive :lmao:

Kat - Really sad about the death, Flacks poor little sad face just about sent me over the edge! Im not happy with the cliffhanger, it'll be ages before the new series is on over here - I can't wait to see what happens!
If one of the team had to be killed off.....I would pick Stella. I know thats bad, but shes the one I least 'believe' - I just don't find her very likeable :guilty:

Still raining here. I am finally at the point where I am just saying f-it. I am heading out for a run regardless. Word.

Hi. Remember me?

:lmao:

Hopefully catching up tonight!!! Put myself back on WW this morning. Finding a meeting this week, sometime. Also, I am making my friend Kim do it with me - my mom friend - so that's perfect support. ("Making" is maybe too strong a word!)

I have 30lbs to lose by my birthday in September. I'm going to run 2 5k's before the end of October. And then I start training for my half!

There be my goals! Make me accountable, ladies!

Off to bathe child, clean house, and make interesting and delectable dinner. :rotfl: See you all after that's all done - or rather, after I do SOME of it!

Liz.... miss you!

Ugh - well found out the damage from the weekend and am up 2.7 pounds (darn guacamole...) :confused3 Talk about a major brain fart.

Oh well - today is a new day and I am back on plan. Time to eat some dinner and then off to get some cardio in at the gym and some grocery shopping.

Later...

Hi Everybody!

Here goes the readers digest version of my comments:

LisaV ~ beautiful wedding pics, OMG! Lisa your home!

Steph ~ your pool looks awesome

Ronda ~ humidity in the midwest is brutal. Great article btw.

E ~ kiddos riding bikes while you run. I LOVE IT! Oh I almost put that banana guy here on accident. Toe colors we need pics, lol.

Kat ~ so picturing the wee pastor. He sounds very cool.

Paula ~ so excited for your loss

Lyz ~ gotta chime in with: SQUATS! You may throw something at me later.

Nancy ~ holding up after graduation?

Liz ~ accountability! I need that too. I have a September goal too.

And now about me. I apologize for the choppiness, but here goes:

I'm catching up ~ slacking on loading pics to photobucket. I'm sorry. TR is on my to do list for the week. Started my new position today too. I'm back on the dieting bandwagon!

Ok, ok. I will be back on short order with day 1 and day 2 (travel days and BMG).

7 miles today. SEVEN. Word.

Still need to do a core work-out. Where is my police force???

Paula--don't stress the gain. It will be back off next week. I ate more than my share of guac this week-end, too. Such a weakness!

EE--yes, TR! Seriously, I am dying to read it, but don't do it for us, do it for you. The reason I always do my trip reports is so that I have the memories for me and my family. I am so glad that I took the time and did them right as we were on the trip (or right after) so that it was all fresh in my mind. Totally worth it to preserve your vacation memories.

Liz--oooh! Great goals! Exciting! Let's make all sorts of plans on how to get there!

Nancy--OMG, you really didn't survive graduation, did you???

So, it seems like several of us need some sort of motivation or pick-me-up or kick-in-the-a$$ or something, right? Let's start brainstorming things that would be great motivators.

The one idea that I had was to choose a location (thinking CT area) where we can get together for lunch and spa time or something. This would work for me, Liz, Paula, and Nancy (and maybe Steph or Amy if up this way). We could find something central that is no more than like 2 hours for each of us. But this doesn't include everyone, so...:confused3

Or, we could be GOOD and instead of lunch and the spa, we could find a race central to all of us! :rotfl2:

Still trying to think of something virtual that would be good for everyone who wants to participate. Thoughts?

Liz.... miss you!

Ugh - well found out the damage from the weekend and am up 2.7 pounds (darn guacamole...) :confused3 Talk about a major brain fart.

Don't fret about that. I have no doubt that it is water gain. Guac has a alot of sodium. Chips too? There ya go.

I'm here! Trying to catch up.

We were away yesterday - in Vermont with our goats. :goodvibes And today? Well, it basically sucked. It was like I was working in reverse all day. I wanted to just wave my white flag in surrender. Nothing went smoothly, nothing was easy - and, I had to call AAA for only the 2nd time in my life.

Seth & I were had a trailer load of goats that we were taking to a sale. He was driving - which made me a nervous wreck of course! I've never ridden with him while he was driving the trailer. He is an excellent driver (cue Rainman ) and really I shouldn't have been concerned, but the traffic was HORRID. And people on the highway are freakin' idiots.

So anyway....we get off the highway and are so.close. Like 3 or 4 miles away, when all of a sudden there was this God-awful sound from the truck and it sounded like it was getting ready to explode! :scared1: Smells like gas. He pulls over, we get out, I call Stephen. <sigh>

Stephen calls one of our very good friends who thankfully had happened to take the day off from work (told me he had anal glaucoma. :confused3 "can't see me dragging my a$$ to work today" :rotfl2:) I call AAA. It takes over an HOUR for Stephen & co. to arrive with another truck to tow the trailer, and AAA to come with a flatbed. Stephen goes with the tow truck back home to our local garage, Seth & I continue on with friend to the sale.

Get to the sale barn - some of the goats ESCAPE. Not kidding. It was like a freakin' goat rodeo. :sad2: Insane.

all I kept thinking was thank GOD we didn't have this issue yesterday when we were in Vermont. Today we were only an hour from home.

Erika - core. Just for the record, I'm keeping tabs :thumbsup2 And YES! A local-ish race/spa/lunch/anything but goat wrangling day sounds awesome!

Paula - sounds like you had a fabulous weekend :goodvibes Love that you are back on track today.

LisaV - You did it! You conquered that scale. :lovestruc

Kat - welcome back from your hockey-fest. Glad you had a great weekend.

Lyz - 7 hours on a motorcycle? :scared1: I can't go 7 minutes in the car before I start to doze off. I'd never make it. Ever. and yes, I'll get graduation pictures in the next day or so.

I love your re-committment. That's what I need. Woke up with all great intentions, but karma bit me in the butt and things went sour really quickly. Tomorrow will be better though - it simply has to be :goodvibes

Day 1 ~ Friday, June 12th 12:30pm

I hit the door at work running ~ heading straight home to pick up everybody and leave. My plan was to be on the road by 1:30, but that didn't happen. My mother never lets me leave on time, agh. I rented an Escape and it was packed to the gills. I was thrilled to find out a wonderful treat <wait for it> <wait for it> Sirius Radio!!!! Harps began to play. :woohoo::yay:

The drive there took forever. We hit extremely heavy traffic in Nashville because of a country music fair. Oy! It was insane. We ended up staying just south of Atlanta. I would have liked to have been farther south, but it just didn't work out.

Day 2 ~ Saturday

I load up our carry on bag that had all of our overnite clothes while my family has breakfast. The vehicle next to ours has government plates (was just a little side bar in my noggin). When I walk back to the breakfast nook, it is full of really big Army men. Um, nice looking ones at that. My family makes small talk with them while I try to find something half-way healthy. I settle on yogurt mixed with Special K.

The fam decided they wanted Dairy Queen burgers for lunch. Yikes! I abstain, and just get a grilled chicken wrap. It was disgusting. I had two bites and decided to skip the rest. I grabbed a homemade snack pack that had some cereal, raisins, craisins, and nuts from my bag.

We reached Orlando around 3pm and checked in and the kids and I ran for the pool before dinner. I didn't have anything planned, but we were surrounded by lots of good restaurants. We ended up going to one of my favorite restaurants Sweet Tomato!

I found this restaurant about 5 years ago when I was in Orlando at a convention. Shortly after that, I became preggers with Taylor and craved it all the time. We have one in St Louis (2 1/2 hours away) and I visited several times during that pregnancy. They also do business in some areas as Souplantation. For those who are unfamiliar, it is a soup, salad, & pasta bar. They also have very tasty muffins and healthy fair is readily available. It's yummy! One location was only a few blocks away from our hotel. I had my fair share of build your own salad and veggie chili (it had yellow squash in it ~ will try to clone and report my findings). I splurged and had some cobbler.

Blue Man Group

Wow! That is my one word summary! Please feel free to elaborate on your own.

:jumping1:

What? You want details? :rotfl2:

Our tickets were for the late show and we were in the 7th row on the left aisle. Wonderful seats! I won't go into alot of specific details about the show, because I don't want to spoil it for anybody who hasn't seen them yet. The auditorium is on CityWalk next to The Hard Rock. It is smaller than I expected, but that is a huge plus! It looks like it could hold maybe 400 people (didn't do my homework on that, just an observation). The before show music was a great pick me up for me (was feeling really tired). Taylor and Ryan were both bobbing their heads to the beat and in no time, the message boards started taunting some of the guests. It really warmed up the crowd.

I didn't do very much research on the show itself. I knew it was interactive, loud, and fun. Every time that I looked at my kids during the show, they were having a blast. It was completely beyond what I expected. It was so much fun. My mom and aunt raved for days about how much they enjoyed the show. Taylor did get a little scared when they started walking through the crowd. When I explained that they had makeup on, she was fine. The band was awesome too.

I highly recommend see their show. It's worth the money! If I ever make it to Vegas, I will see them again in a blink of an eye.

OMG! Gasoline smell & loud noise! That sounds like a scary combination. Fuel line problems?? So glad both of you are safe.

Goat rodeo! I'm so sorry, but I almost fell out of the chair from laughing so hard.

Erika - I love the idea of a get together. Love it!!!!

Nancy - sorry you had such a suckfest of a day. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Liz - So inspired with your rededication. Truly.

Amiee - loving the trip report so far...

Feeling a bit better about the gain. It is a blip and nothing more. Went to the grocery store and stocked up on some yummy fruits and veggies so I am ready for the week (no avacados in sight...) Got in about 9 miles on the spin bike tonight. Was struggling a bit, but haven't ridden in about five days so what can you do.

I am off to bed. I'll see you all on the flip side...

Man, I've missed you ladies! Read and all caught up!!!

Okay, first things. I am SO up for a meet-up and SO up for a race! I would love to do both!!!

Re-commitment. Word. My plan is to be very, very honest on this thread, just update all the time on how it's going. I'm still starting points on Monday, and focusing on being on track on weekdays and more relaxed but not hog wild on on weekends.

So, here's the truth. I HAVE been eating with Jodi! Laughed with her, cried with her, eaten with her! We have both had major stress - family medical (duh), marriage, life in general, get it all done, hold the world up. I have not cared, so I've been following her into Cold Stone Creamery. :lmao:

But now I care. I care a LOT. I realize that I didn't appreciate my weight loss last year at this time. And that my gain is not a failure. Frankly, I never "got" setbacks before. But now I do. Heaping dose of compassion.

It's summer, and pool and beach season, and I want to be hot and fit. And I want to run, really RUN a 5k! And now I understand that 180 is skinny, 170 is skinny, 160 is freaking model skinny. (For me.) I never thought I was...enough. But I AM.

Lyz - you made me laugh, with your non-butt moving exercises!

Lisa - HOUSE!!! WOW. I want pictures of it when you are in!!! Lots and lots. I love the separate wings!

Erika - CORE????

Nancy - you and me, babe. Let's say tomorrow will rock!

Paula - I wouldn't worry about the gain. I'm sure it's a very very temporary.

EE - what are your September goals?

Kelly - what concert? Tell me more!!!

Weight-wise: I want to lose at least 15-20 lbs before my cousin's wedding (Sept 13th). I will be the biggest gal in the wedding party and I am terrified! I started back on low carb today for a little jump start (didn't eat horrible on vacation, but I have a sweet tooth the size of Kentucky now). Exercise: I want to be more consistant ~ give myself the time to exercise that I need/deserve. Mental hurdle there.
