In search of LOBSTER!

Keep in mind that the OP says he would like to keep to a DDP restaurant.
The next three require a 2 TS credit

Portabella yacht club
Fulton's Crab House
Narcoosee's

Only Narcoossee's participates in the dining plan

On Friday I made an ADR at Coral Reef. I didn't ask about lobster, but the CM asked if we were on the ddp, then commented that it is such a good restaurant and that we could even get lobster there.

Since I wasn't even asking about anything on the menu, that would make me think that you can for sure get it at Coral Reef.

Lobster was removed from the menu at CR a long time ago about the time the current dining plan was introduced.

*shakes head*

You USED to be able to - we had it several times in 2004 using Magical Wishes (the original "dining plan") but it has since been removed.

Rainforest Cafe also serves lobster, OP.

Magical wishes really isn't the original dining plan - there was a food and fun addon similar to that back in the 90's in addition to the dining and recreation plans that have been around since the 80s. But I digress. Lobster has had an on again/off again relationship with disney dining plans. In the 25 years I've been visiting, at various restuarants, lobster has been on the menu for everyone, then off the menu entirely, or on the menu but excluded from the dining plan. Who knows what the future of dining plans and lobster will be. Hopefully you will find it and enjoy it on your trip.

We had the surf and turf at Narcoossee's in Sept. We could also have ordered the whole Maine lobster. We really enjoyed Narcoossee's. They have a fireworks view, dim the light and pump in the music. Also, I had the best dessert there, of our whole trip (10 days) I had almond crusted cheesecake-it was soooo goooood! :thumbsup2

we had whole maine lobster at narcoosee's last month

boy, was that good!!!!

DH had that on Friday night, it was huge! Narcoossee's was great (bit pricey though, but worth it!)

Our Capt Jack's experience was TERRIBLE!!!! The lobster was cold and rubbery. The worst part was when a cockroach ran across the floor and the waitress tried to casually step on it and slide her foot all the way over to the bar with it under foot. Everyone had seen it...yick!

ewwww...I was told they aren't cockroaches...they are palmetto bugs and they are to be expected in Florida especially around water! :rotfl:

Anyway, I just came here to say that one of our best dinners was at Cap'n Jacks. My DH wanted a lobster dinner, so I booked Cap'n Jacks for one night. We were on the DDP, which we thought was a GREAT deal! Anyway, I wasn't really looking forward to this dinner, since I don't like too much seafood and the couple things I do eat, aren't available there, but he really wanted lobster tails, so we went. They no longer have steak, but they do have pot roast, which is what I got. It was surprisingly delicious! AND, our waiter pointed out that since I ordered the pot roast, I could get an extra lobster tail! They only offer it with the chicken or pot roast.

This was our most expensive meal...$122 and change. We would never pay that much for a meal...I don't care how delicious it was, but since we were on the dining plan, we had a ball everywhere we ate! I think I gained five pounds!

Unless Coral Reef has changed their menu in the last five weeks, I can state unequivocally that they do NOT serve lobster (although they may serve lobsters, if the lobsters came in properly attired AND had reservations). Not likely, since the menu had just changed in August or September - and I have one in arm's reach.
Pan-seared Ahi Tuna
Blackened Catfish
Grilled Mahi Mahi
Grilled Chicken Breast
Vegetable Strudel
Grilled New York Strip Steak
Seared Sterling Salmon
Shrimp Pasta
Prime Rib

Although they do have Creamy Lobster Soup as an appetizer

WDW is not known for their lobsters. You could order lobster from New England to be delivered the day you get home or the next and have it that night. They are shipped overnight live. They are much better than a lobster tail that has been cooked, cooled and reheated.

Or better yet, plan a first anniversary weekend in New England.

Sorry, I'm really biased on lobster. We drive down to the dock and buy them for about $5.99/pound.

Fultons, Bluezoo, Portobello Yacht Club, Rainforest Cafe and Shula's do not accept the Disney Dining Plan.

Coral Reef apparently had lobster on the menu before it became a one-credit restaurant on the Dining Plan and it was removed after that. The menu dated 11/06 on Allears has lobster soup, and lobster salad at lunch, but no lobster entrees.

Narcoosees is a two credit restaurant. Capt. Jack's may be the best bet.
