Where can I find the best chocolate dessert at Disneyland Resort? I love rich chocolatey goodness. Flourless chocolate tortes, chocolate lava cakes and chocolate souffles are my favorite types of desserts. Chased down by a tall glass of cold whole milk, of course. What do you suggest? What are some of your favorites around the parks and resorts?

When are you going? If it is before the beginning of September and the 60th Anniversary cake is still available, it is pretty tasty! It is a chocolate cake with layers of tropical fruit flavors like passion fruit, banana and mango with a topping of ganache that sounds a bit funky, but comes together pretty great! We had it at the Plaza Inn and Rancho del Zocalo in DL. Oh - it was also topped with an edible diamond!

Lots of awesome ice cream sundae combinations including with dark chocolate fudge can be found at Ghirardelli in DCA!

Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

This cupcake is available at the Jolly Holiday Bakery. It is so rich (and I'm not just talking about the real gold flakes), it makes my teeth hurt just looking at it.

Darth by chocolate is a counter service dessert layered with chocolate ganache , mousse , chocolate crumbles and red velvet. It's divine and only about 6 bucks. I know Pizza Port has it.

I'm a total chocoholic, but for some reason I always go for the other treats while at DLR...my favorites are dole whip, Mickey beignets and the raspberry maceron. I'm also totally addicted to the Mickey shaped sour gummies!
That dark chocolate sundae sounds really good though, will have to try that when I'm there in a few weeks!

We can't have the ice cream at Ghiradelli's (last we checked it's simply Dreyer's, and their ingredients aren't OK for my family), so we hit Haagen Dasz. Love their chocolate ice cream.

They had a really delicious tres leches cake at Rancho del Zocolo. I'm not sure they have it anymore? It was so rich that we had to split it between 3 people. It was soo good though!

I really love the brownie sundae at Ghirardelli with the Ghirardelli hot fudge yummy! I also love the marshmallow and Carmel with chocolate wand at Poohs Cornor. Lots of yummy chocolate goodness in there.

You might want to contact Ghirardelli to ask about the ingredients. They claim that it is a recipe made especially for them by Dreyer's, but that it isn't the same as Dreyer's ice cream. In our experience, it doesn't seem to be the same as the Dreyer's used at Clarabelle's or at Gibson Girl. I react less to Ghirardelli than to Clarabelle's and Gibson Girl, and even less to Haagen Dazs. Haagen Dazs makes great ice cream and has minimal ingredients, plus low over run (yay!), but Ghirardelli's may not be as bad as you think it is. Either way, it's still nice that there are so many ice cream choices at DLR.

They might have some flavors specially made for them, but I would think that most of their ice cream is just the standard commercial tubs that they sell to ice cream parlors, movie theaters, and restaurants. I also have fond memories of Edy's Restaurant in Berkeley which served Dreyer's. It was named after one of the founders of Dreyer's.

It's also kind of strange that Ghirardelli partners with Dreyer's. Ghirardelli is owned by Lindt, and Dreyer's is owned by Nestle. Strange bedfellows.

Oh - I would note that when you walk in the door at Ghirardelli, there will be someone with a basket of free samples of their chocolate squares. This is something that Ghirardelli does at all their stores, including the ones at outlet malls. Maybe not the OP's idea of a chocolatey dessert, but who turns down free candy?

On one of The DIS 60th videos recently they showed rocky road being made at Candy Palace. It looked awesome!!! They even make their own marshmallow...

Mmmmm chocolate aarrgghhhh

I can take chocolate or leave it.. when we were there last I bought the Darth By Chocolate. and I can say without a doubt it was pretty damn good. !! so good in fact that I ate the whole thing.. well cept the Chocolate Darth Head.. my son stole that.. oh and his Light saber.. I was looking forward to eating those.. so I just may have to go back and have another one..

Thank you everyone for your replies. I definitely have some new things to try in September. I will probably not get to try the 60th anniversary cake, as I will be there later in September. But the chocolate cake at Steakhouse 55 sounds promising. I will definitely have to try Darth by Chocolate (just the name alone would entice me to buy it.) And while I am not a huge Rainforest Cafe fan, we might just have to duck in there for dessert one night (or maybe 2 nights since they have 2 of my favorite desserts.) Oh, and I love the Ghirardelli sundaes. I'm not sure if I've had the dark chocolate sundae yet. But I'm adding it to my list.

Please keep the replies coming. I am a WDW veteran who is still learning my way around DLR.Thanks for your help!
