at the Polynesian. Is this worth it? Do you get more choices just by going to Captain Jacks? In case we decide to do it, how do you tip? I read they add a delivery charge and tax, but do you tip on top of that? Sorry, sounded funny to me. Anyway, if so how much? The only reason we are thinking of doing this is because it will be on our arrival day and we have to be up for a 6 am flight. One last, can you use the DP for this? OR I wonder if I can even use the $50 Amn Exp gift card I just won! Sorry had to put that in. I never win anything. Thanks. 15 more days!

In room dining is convenient, but it's very expensive. You'll pay tax and a delivery fee and then be expected to tip the waiter bringing it to your room. They will charge the meal to your room. Unless you need the convenience, it's a better idea to go get your own food.

In Room Dining, anywhere, is expensive. But depending on how you feel, and if you are willing to pay extra, it can be nice. There is a pampered feel to eating in your room. I travel a lot for work and often arrive late in the evening, alone, in a hotel room in a strange city. Most often I will order Room Service, as I am tired and don't want to eat in a restaurant alone.
You can use your DDP for In Room Dining, but it is 2 credits per person. It is probably better to pay OOP.

I did not stay at the Poly my last trip, but at GF. We got room service for breakfast and lunch almost everyday, and it was wonderful. We had gotten the premium dinning plan so it was included only one credit per meal. It was very nice to woke up by room service bringing breakfast and a nice break from the heat to have lunch in the room.

Room service at the Polynesian is wonderful and it sounds like it would fit your needs very well.

It is 2 credits if you're using the regular dining plan. You can always pay OOP of course.

There is a delivery fee, tax and automatic gratuity (I think 18%) included on the bill. Gratuity is automatic at every hotel I can remember. You are not expected to add anything but can do so at your discretion. One thing I really appreciate at the Polynesian and other WDW hotels is that almost every server tells you that gratuity is already included. At most non Disney hotels, servers don't volunteer that info and a novice could easily tip the full amount twice.

Captain Cooks is fine but the room service menu offers many more options and you can't beat having hot food delivered to your room after a long day.
