Me, DD and 2 DGDs (7+10) will be staying at ASMu. Would like to save some $ and have breakfast in the room. I'm sure lots of folks have done this without a refrigerator, so I'm looking for some menu ideas. We will not have a cooler either and I'd like to pack it to take on the plane rather than shop for groceries in FL.

One thing we've done is pack instant oatmeal or grits and heat water in the coffee pot. My kids also love pop-tarts and breakfast bars.

You could always buy a small container of milk at your resorts gift shop each morning and have cereal.

If you don't want to do that, juice boxes with Pop-Tarts, Granola Bars, dried fruits.

This may seem like a lot of trouble, but I made muffins from scratch a day or two before we flew to FL, froze them right after baking, packed them so they didn't get stale, and had those for breakfast for about 4 days. We also packed store-bought muffins as well. We plan to do this again. They sure came in handy.

I usually bring breakfast bars and/or muffins with me. Prepackaged on the muffings. Sadly, I'm not much of a baker.

Have also brought those little boxes of cereal they sell and then just got milk and bowls at the foodcourt.

bagels and peanutbutter
granola or cereal bars
bananas
donuts

then supplement with juice, milk and yogurts from food court.

How about Parmalat. Pack of three or one qt. container. You can place one or two from the three pack in the ice buckets to give it a little chill and have it with cereal. Thomas Bagels/muffins also. I used the Parmalat when the kids were younger pretty often.

All the suggestions above are good. If I had a child with me that insisted on cereal....I would buy powdered milk and just make the milk in the room. You just add cold water. It taste like skim milk. I only buy skim milk and all the grandkids drink it when they come over. None of them has ever made a comment about the milk. They don't even notice the difference.

Have you tried the new Quaker Breakfast Squares? They are very good and the nutrition info looks pretty good too. They are compact and not messy at all.
