In room babysitting???

Has anyone ever done this? I was thinking about a nite out for DH and I, but unsure... Thanks for any info!!

We've done Fairy Godmothers at least a half-dozen times and been very happy. Lots of people have posted they like Kids Nite Out, which is more corporate with official shirts, things to sign off on , etc. FG is a family run company that has been paring back some at the owner has gotten older. She can sound gruff on the phone, but we have loved their sitters and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

BUt now our son is 7, and he's discovered the kids' clubs, so we send him there.

We use Kid's Nite Out. They were great and very professional when they came. The kids had lots of fun and were dead asleep when we got back, worth every penny for a quiet dinner together our kids were 4 and almost 2.

I would really like to do this with DS, but I am really scared to leave DS with a total stranger! (?) He is not old enough for any of the kids clubs (he is 3).. so.. bump bump for more opinions.

Trust me my husband and I were petrified to leave with a stranger too. I guess mostly me, in fact we almost called and cancelled and didn't go, but once we met the sitter we knew the kids would be fine. we scheduled her to come about 1/2 hour before we were to leave so we could meet her talk with her about the kids, etc. It really helped ease my nerves. They will do whatever you ask of them, but they don't do any water activities including baths. Ben wasn't even 2 when he went and Grace had just turned 4.

We're considering this for our trip in October with our daughter who will then be just over 8 months. I'm really nervous about leaving her with someone I've never met. Are we crazy to consider this? Has anyone else left a child that young with one of these services? My husband recently won tickets to La Nouba from the podcast banana and we wouldn't want them to go to waste, but I have my reservations.
