With the Kid's Clubs closing, DH and I were considering doing the in-room babysitting service one night so that we can have an adult night. I was wondering if the babysitters have to keep the kids in the room or if they can go down to the pool, etc. while we are gone? Kids will be nearly 5 and nearly 7, FWIW.

It's been ages since I've done this, but back in the Stone Age, we used the Fairy Godmothers babysitting service. We just had her stay in the room with our kids, but they would be willing to take the kids to dinner or even into the parks. Obviously, you'd have to pay for their admission in addition to their time. Not sure they still do this. I would think, if pool time was of particular interest, they would see if they could get you someone who was more trained in lifesaving just as a precaution. I would think, with your kids' ages, that would be less of a big deal, but you might like the extra level of safety. Not all hotels have lifeguards at all hours. I think the pool would be a great way to keep them entertained, not to mention tire them out!

can not say for sure but I have read that they are not allowed to take kids to the pool

When we used Kids Nite Out a couple of years ago, they wouldn’t take them to the pool (nor did we want them to) but would take them out of the room. For example we were staying at the Poly and the sitter took them for a walk around the resort and to get a Dole Whip.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with a stranger taking my children to a pool. Perhaps they could bring them to the food court for dinner and some resorts have a playground, I would be OK with that also or maybe just a walk around the resort.

The Kids Nite Out sitters can take the children out of the room for activities and meals but they will not do any water activities with the children - no pools, splash pads or even baths.
