Hi Ladies! I'm on a mission to lose all of the weight I gained when I was pregnant FIVE years ago! About time, I know! LOL! I haven't worn a swimsuit since pre-pregnancy and this summer we're going camping with my SIL and her family and I want to swim!

I've lost 14 pound so far. I find if I stick with healthy food and exercise, I actully lose weight fairly quickly (3-5 pounds per week). Prior to this I ate really horribly and never exercised! I tried on a few shirts this morning that I purchased a few weeks ago and they are too big. I have been cursed with a large chest, so I lose weight there first, so my shirts are starting to get too big and are starting to look like maternity clothes! And I do NOT want to look pregnant because we've been trying for #2 for almost 2 years, we've been tested and have a variety of fertility issues, so the last thing I want is someone to think I'm pregnant when I'm not but really want to be!!

What do you ladies do re clothing. I plan on going bra shopping this weekend and buy one for now. I figure one will get me through until I need to get another size. I still have a lot of weight I want to lose, so I can't go out and buy a whole new wardrobe! But I still want to look nice each day. My pants/skirts are still doing okay. Getting looser, but I don't think they look too big yet.

Thanks!

And congrats to all of you!!

Well... so far I am just wearing stuff that too big! But I've never been too into clothes, so it doesn't bother me too much. As we are heading into summer (and I just took a trip to WDW) I bought myself a handful of basics in my new size for the summer. Just a few pairs of shorts (12.99 at Target) and short sleeved plain t-shirts and that will get me through the spring and summer. And I dug around in my closet and found some clothes that I have been "hoping" to fit into again some day and guess what.... some of them fit now!

I did break down and buy a new bra, but sadly, my cup size hasn't changed. (And previously my bras were a bit too small, so now they fit okay.) But I am really hoping to be down to a C-cup within another 10 pounds or so.

If I had to have lots of nice work clothes, I guess I would look around and try to find a few basics in my "current" size and work with those until I needed another size.

I have even taken in the waist of some pants in the past, but usually they still look baggy because they are still too big in the hips/behind area.

Any chance you could find a weight loss friend who may be a bit smaller who would like to give you her cast offs? I wish I could find someone to give my size 16 and size 14 pants to, but I can't. And some of them are brand new! But I am NOT hanging on to stuff that is too big.... it is too easy to work my way up to fitting into them again!

Good luck with whatever you find!.......................P

On our thread (the one with the title, "In search of my bidy...") we have a "clothes swap." So, when one person is thrilled to be out of their 14s (for example) there is someone else who is equally as thrilled to be getting IN to 14s!

I just cleaned out my closet and got rid of all of my 10s. So I posted "Who wants 10s?" Someone responded and so I sent her a box. It is a great way to get those "in between" clothes without having to buy stuff for each size!

If the above ideas do not "fit" into your plans, I remember some posting a long time ago that they went to a second hand store and picked up a few things to get through the downsizing.

CONGRATULATIONS! You are a great loser! Keep up the great work.

:cheer2:

Thanks for the great ideas!! A clothing swap..never would have thought of that one!

Congratulations on your weight loss to date, that is great!

I second the response to go to consignment shops, you really have to look, but sometimes you can find some really great deals on clothes that are new or have little wear. And some consignment shops have dollar days where you can really find good deals. I am lucky, in my area we have a ton of them, so are upscale and some are Salvation Army, but it is always a good place to find something "new". And since every 10 pounds equals a new size you can rapidly go through the sizes depending on how fast you are losing.

Another option is to tailor your existing clothes. Or go to Wal-Mart and you can pick up some tops for under $10. Anything to get you through the transition.

3DisneyKids, what a great idea!

I've been cruising the clearance racks in the stores and buying that stuff. I got some nice pants and shirts at Lane Bryant for $7 each. Now the tops at Lane Bryant are too big :cool1: but it was a cheap way to fill the void.

I usually don't do the sales because I hate to dig for clothing, but I suppose now it'll be worth it for a while! I still have a ways to go to my goal. Two years ago we moved and at that time I got rid of all of my old, smaller clothing. I did keep my suits because they were so pricey, so hopefully I'll be back in those soon!!

I'll have to check on what consignment shops are around here. Great idea! I never go to those because, as I've said, I hate to dig!

I'm not even sure what size I would be in now. I just know that the XL shirts I bought a few weeks ago are way too big now. And my size 16 and 14 pants are getting looser and looser, and some of my skirts aren't fitting right either! It's so exciting!! Earlier this week, I actually wore a button down shirt that I haven't been able to actually button in years!

I haven't thought about it too much. I bought a few things back in winter because I had so little clothes because I refuse to buy more clothes in a size I don't want to be. :rolleyes1 :sad2: I had to get some though for work. A lot of my stuff was getting old. I have quite a few pants in 18-20 range so I'll have some of those but it will be when I can get into 16's and 14's that I will have some shopping to do.

A swap sounds good hopefully I'll find one when I need one. But I second the second hand shops. I shopped those for my dd quite a bit because I saw no point in buying a lot of new stuff she wouldn't wear long and since we were home most of the time no need for many nicer stuff. I figure I only have so many more years left before she will want to pick her own clothing.

Congrats on the weigh loss!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!
Our church has a clothing giveaway twice a year. I went to it this year and was surprised at the quality and abundance of the clothing. It was very well organized and you didn't have to dig to find your size.
You can also try yard sales.
