What are the chances of getting an ECV rental at the parks Dec. 12-15? We will not be park hopping so I won't have to chance the second park running out. Also, we will be arriving at each park pretty early in the day.

I know everyone recommends renting a ECV from an off-site company. I'm starting to wonder whether that would be best for me. Now first of all, I have to say that I'm not even sure I will be using an ECV, but I want to be prepared with information. I will be able to walk around the resorts and DTD, it will just be a question of whether the parks themselves will be too much for me.

Several things have me considering renting on-site.
1) I may not need the ECV at all. I want to see how things go.
2) Our group is me, my mom, my grandma and 2 6yos. Mom will be pushing grandma in her w/c alread (she doesn't want an ECV).
3) Getting the w/c on the bus will be trouble enough (we won't have a car).
4) I want to be available to keep track of the kids when we are outside of the parks, loading busses etc.

Thanks for your help (again)!!!

Most folks advise getting an off-site ECV to have it away from the parks as well if you are park hopping. If you feel you won't need it outside the park and you aren't park hopping then you probably will do fine with renting one from the park. I would plan on getting to the parks early. I would take the numbers of the off-site vendors just in case you get overwelmed and decide you need to get one. I'm not sure how much lead time they need but there are several vendors and one just might be able to help. I can understand your concerns with DM pushing a w/c and two 6 yos that need to be attended. Recently my 3 yo DGD was with me at a fair and she held my hand while we went through the crowds(as I was driving my new ECV with the other hand) but it was not easy.
Have a great trip.

From what I have read, December 12-15 would not be the busiest time period. In fact, December 1-14 is one of the least expensive times to go, so I don't think you will see huge crowds (December 15-23 is the next notch busier). So, I don't think you will find a big problem if you get there early.
Taking the phone numbers of the rental places along with you is good "insurance". The buses can hold up to 2 wheelchairs or ecvs, so if you had a rental one, you could both fit. You could also ask the driver to let the children board before putting the wheelchair/ecv on so that you knew they were on the bus.
Pixie dust to you for whatever you decide.
