School closed? wow Judi! We came close- we had 170 out in our district, 200 was the cut to close. That strain of the flu had seemed to die down around here (for now), Influenza A & B haven't gotten to full steam yet here.

any ideas for male employees? (budget minded of course!)

I have bought virtually nothing so far...
DH and I dont' really exchange gifts, something little and quirky to us

DD13 wants a new bed....full or queen size
DD10 wants American Girl or a new DS (her screen is all scratched)
and DS wants a laptop

all big ticket items
which does make shopping easier...though not as much fun as opening a bunch of stuff, in my opinion

we usually pick names for all the kids in the family (the cousins)
so that is not too hard, either

anyone have ideas for the over 90 crowd? Last year a water alarm (when gram overflows the sink in the kitchen) was a big hit...that thing is LOUD (and has been very useful (whistling guy here)

one year we made homemade fudge and gift boxed little portions
that was a huge hit, actually!

DH has started to take his department out to lunch as their "gift"
and extended the lunchtime a bit, it seems to be very well received, as well!
He also likes to give lottery tix

DS couldn't find any picture ID last night
it got a little ugly 'round here

DD13 would have been running around stressing
DS, "oh well"
so I had to do the running around and stressing!

I am making chocolate chip cookies
taking a break since I was digging in the cupboard for the bag of flour
and discovered THREE empty cereal boxes (no one knows where our garbage cans are , apparently)
and two empty boxes of poptarts

the clever was40 children just started eating bagels and waffles
but no one tells the momma we have no cereal

lunch & lottery tickets could be a good idea -- I might have to add that up, homemade stuff w/ lottery tickets is a very good idea too :

We love SPlash Lagoon but this deal was even sweeter
and all the rooms are "attached" no across the street

taking SIX kids (three was's and each gets a friend)
DH and I have massages booked

I love the homemade treats I get at school

I have recieved fudge in a cookie cutter (seasonal)
white fudge in a ghost cutter at halloween
reindeer cutter with chocolate at christmas...yummy!

I like to get a tray of cookies, too,
since I don't have the time to make too many kinds

(in this small town, we know which homemade edibles are fine to consume) or at least I think I do!

we are going to Ryan's buffet (owned by Fire Mountain and Country BUffet grouop) when we do Kalahari this coming week

joined their email and a friend sent some coupons
all eight of us can eat for $30!!! all you can eat
that is downright amazin
since one pizza at Kallahai is $29 bucks, and it will feed...four, maybe, and not fill them up!

(no drinks at that price, water)
