Hello,
I don't post much here, but I have posted a few pics in the photo contests.
Anyway, today I recieved an award for 20 yrs at my employer and I get to pick a gift from a catalouge.
I have been considering moving up to the SLR world and there is an SLR camera in the choices.
It is a Pentax K200 which includes a standard 18-55mm lens. It's 10MP and has a 2.5"LCD.
Any advice on this camera? Should I go for it? I am torn between this camera or a Sony 60GB HDD camcorder.
Thanks in advance for any info!
Krissy

I have the baby brother K100D and absolutely love it! I have had it about two and a half years and have not even had any major itch to upgrade. I personally think that the Pentax have a really good "feel" to them. I had considered a Canon Rebel, but just didn't like it once it was in my hands and I could not afford the upgraded Canon 30D available at the time that did feel good. I also like the feel of the Nikon D50, but they do not make any cameras in that form factor anymore. The D40 and D60 were completely redesigned and are now too small IMO.

Basically, for a free camera, I cannot see how you could go wrong with a K200D.

I recommmend Nikon D40.. You can have a look at it.
:surfweb:

It allows you to enter the realm of digital SLR photography. This is Nikon's entry-level digital SLR. You could do a lot worse than to start your digital SLR journey with this camera. In fact you could buy this camera, stop there, and still be able to create fantastic photographs. Many professionals use the D40 for all but the most demanding jobs. It's just a damn good camera.

No offense, but did you read the OP's message? The only options are a K200D or a Sony camcorder.

Along with this, I have to say one other thing. You can buy a pretty decent camcorder for less than any DSLR. No matter the brand, I would consider the DSLR a better deal.
