Scared, frustrated, not knowing how to react or what to do, seems to bring violence out in some. And if you are fragile to begin with, listening to rabblerousing types on the radio or TV brings more anger and frustration.
I abhor violence, and am shocked by the everyday level of it. Arguments in public, yelling at children in public, road rage (even in my little town in Ohio I had to report to 911 twice in one week because people actually got out of their cars and were menacing each other)
At my daughter's HS two girls were suspended for fighting. She was even egged on in gym class over something trite, fortunately she held her ground and refused to get dragged into a fight.
These two incidents have taken precious lives, damaged peoples' bodies, and who knows the long term mental health issues of the survivors. Such a sad time.
