In and Out in a Day

Ellen- I'm sorry about your kitty. It's hard even if you expect it and know it's right. We've all been through it enough times to know there are no words to make it better. As for everything else, I agree, you're really did have a lousy day! Hoping tomorrow brings you lots of smiles and happy memories.

Oh Ellen, I just saw this and feel so badly for you and your family. I know some folks say these little pals are just animals, but I don't think so. I think that the unconditional love pet shower on us is a priceless gift. i am so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

Glynis - Hope that Alan found a freelance photographer. How's Timmy?

Ellen - Hope you're staying out of the way of tornados! So sorry about Meeko. Hope your root canals go well.

Robin - Glad your furbaby is okay.

Last week was one heck of a week at work. I had one of those professional run-ins and disagreements with a work colleague. Left me feeling awfully blue over the weekend. We're 6 weeks away to our launch date and I can't wait for that date! Still a heap of work to happen between now and then; but I can see the finish line.

Ellen- I just got back from the vet and most likely it's a fatty tumor, completely harmless but it will eventually take away from his cuteness!

Oh, he'll be a cute boy no matter what! :goodvibes

I hope that you get through this in one piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure do hope that Alan finds his freelance photographer! And I am glad that the sickies are better. I have not seen anything like this season in years. Kids sick, and then sick again. Welby has had her little ones at the Dr all winter and spring, and whatever hits them comes on like a trainwreck.

Glynis, congratulations to Jacob for getting picked for Jazz band! Liam plays trumpet also (sometmes) and I know he is trying out for Jazz Band next fall when he goes to high school (!!). And pixie dust that Alan gets to go to Disneyland with you too!

I just want to clarify that I was not upset with my inlaws about the dinner thing. I actually thought it was funny. And it all worked out fine.
.

Love the trumpet! Daniel payed from the 6th grade on and after the first year i was thrilled. That first few months, not so much :faint::scared1: I think that jazz band is a great incentive for kids to really practice!

FINALS ARE OVER! The accounting final was a bear and I do not think I did well. At the best, I got a 75, unless the professor changes how he grades. It was terrible and honestly, much of it was not covered. It was a take home test, but if there is nothing in the book to guide you, :(. As an indication of the difficulty, Marisa could not get through that one problem that was horrible either. We are allowed to collaborate because the teacher thinks that is a good way to learn, but that day there were 4 of us and nothing we did helped. We even all went in to speak to him for guidance. After class he went over the answers and not one person got that problem...it was worth 25% of teh test :confused3

But yesterday I turned in my last project and i am done!

Nola graduated yesterday :goodvibes:wizard::lovestruc She was the sweetest little preschool graduate ever! Ill post her pics on FB later

I am sick over the devastation in Oklahoma. Unspeakable.

Good morning, everyone!

Ellen - I'm so sorry about your kitty! Sounds like you had a "terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day!" Hopefully, today is better.

PIO - Sounds like you could use some pixie dust, as well. I hope that things at work smooth out for you.

Nancy - Congrats on finals being over!!! That class sounds like a doozy! Whew! Be glad it's over!

Well, the news on the Disneyland front, is that we still have no news. They are supposed to let Alan know "sometime this week" whether or not he'll be able to go with us. At this point, it doesn't look very good. So, I'm gearing up to do all the driving. I can do it, I just hate driving in California. So crazy!!!

School is wrapping up quickly for the kids. Katie and Jacob have to clean out their lockers today, so that ought to be interesting. It should take Jacob about 20 seconds, as all he kept in his locker were books and pens. Katie, on the other hand, is a pack rat, so it will be interesting to see what she comes home with today. I'm anticipating a call asking me to come get her, as she'll have too much stuff to carry.

We had dinner at a neighbor's house last night, so I didn't have to cook. Guess that means I'll have to come up with something for tonight. Not sure what, though. It's going to be pretty warm, so I'm thinking I might do some kind of salad with grilled chicken.

Glynis- Fingers crossed on the Disneyland front! I hear you on the driving. It is no secret that I hate to drive and I almost refuse to drive in an unfamiliar place. It is a problem because my vacations are limited. I really want to take Kady away alone somewhere but the only place I really feel comfortable going to is WDW, and right now I am reluctant to send that money.

I am thinking what is within driving distance that Kady would enjoy. I have narrowed it down to Lake George and Plymouth. We'll see how much money I am comfortable spending ;)

Kady is like Jacob. She wold not even keep a few extra dollars in her locker JIC. She forgot lunch and lunch money, did not want to "charge" it, even though Marisa is fine with that, so she did not eat. I thought that Buddy was going to to turn himself inside out trying to get money out of his pocket for her to tuck away :rotfl2:. He is still upset that she would not store it in her locker, so she refused his offer

Hooray! The end of the year is in sight!!!!!!!!!!1111

Thanks girls, I really appreciate your kind words.

Nan ~ I am so glad your finals are over. Now enjoy your summer. I want so bad to take Ethan away - just the 2 of us. He is so darn busy this summer, but his parents did say that whenever I decide they will let him go. Matthew is moving into a new apartment with a swimming pool so I think we will just go hang with "Unca Matt". :cool1:

Glynis ~ I still have everything crossed I can, that in the 12th hour Alan will be able to join you. With his school and everything else, he needs the time away with the family as much as you all do. I so hope it works out.

PIO ~ Nothing worse than arguing. I hate it!! The end is near my friend, hang in there.

It is cold and cloudy out today. I haven't seen the sun now for 2 days. We are in the 50's and maybe the 60's tomorrow. No rain just windy and cloudy.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all in Oklahoma and everyone in the path of these awful storms. It is just so hard to watch the news. I just feel so bad for them.

WFDT ~ Swiss steak, potatoes, brussel sprouts and cucumber salad.

Make it a great day all.

Nancy - YAY for finishing the last project! Sorry about the accounting exam. I hate it when they set a question that is so difficult that no one can do it! Have you decided where you're going yet?

Glynis - I hope you've got a driving buddy to California. It's funny - the traffic in Cali is much more busy than in Melbourne but I find that the drivers are so much more polite than here. Whilst I don't enjoy the volume of traffic around me, I find that if I indicate, more often than not, the drivers around me will let me turn/change lanes etc a lot more readily! Maybe that says something about the rude Aussie drivers!

Ellen - Hope things are okay with you.

My thoughts are also for the residents of Oklahoma. It is distressing watching the news.

Ellen- hanging with Uncle Matt sounds great to me! I worry about your location now that these wicked storms are brewing!

PIO- Oklahoma :sad1:

Tonight we are celebrating Nola's preschool graduation. Buddy takes the girls out for dinner on their special occasions, and just about everything they do is celebration worthy to him :goodvibes. Nola will get to choose so I think we will end up at Red Robin, her favorite.

I should try to reclaim my house today, but if it clears up I am going to start some yard work. I have not done any, and Buddy cannot touch my gardens because he doesn't know a perennial from a pothole.

BTW- we had another bear sighting on our street. There is a family of bears in the woods down the road and they come out at night. There goes my bird feededs again this year! :headache: Buddy won't let me have them because the bears have been visiting porches to get more seed.

Morning Girls,

PIO ~ Thanks for asking..........I'm ok. Was in a bit of a funk for a few days. Drove Doug nuts :rotfl2:. He kept asking my why I was ignoring him. Silly guy just leave me alone, I will work it out. He knows something is wrong when I don't talk (imaging that). Last night we had a long talk and today is better. I was just on overload I think. But do feel like my old self today.

Nan ~ BEARS!!!!! Oh.my.goodness. That would scare the beejeebers out of me. We have had some Mountain Lions roaming the land. Which is funny because we have no mts. anywhere around us. They are even going to start giving permits to shoot them. They are getting pretty bad.
The storms are and have been kind of calm but I worry everytime we are in a Tornado watch - which is just about every day. They are my biggest fear.

It is another cloudy, windy and cool day out. No rain - that is forcasted for this weekend. Of course it is!!! I wish just once we could have a nice Memorial Day weekend.

The girls and I are running in a 5K for the MS Society this Saturday. I am really looking forward to it. I have started my training for the 2014 Princess 1/2 Marathon so this will be a nice kick off.

The gas prices have gone up .70 in the last 10 days. We are over $4.00 so Doug and I have decided we are not going to go decorate graves. I hate to not go, but I know my Momma would understand (she is 3 hours away). We will go when the gas is a bit cheaper. So hopefully we will just stay close to home and be with the family. What are your plans for the weekend?

WFDT ~ Grilled brats, sweet potato fries and sliced avacados.

Make it a great day!

Hello peoples! :wave2: Crazy busy couple of weeks but tomorrow is the end of most of it, for a couple of weeks anyway.

The AC in both my van and house have been out. Got the van done today but the house has to wait until next week as they had to order a part. :crazy2: And of course it has been nice and warm and humid.

Going away for the weekend and going to enjoy some time in the hot tub and some nice sleep in an air conditioned condo. :thumbsup2

Ellen- this was the first Christmas my mom didn't decorate my grandparents grave. They are buried 5 hours away and my dad was recovering from major surgery. Thank you for walking, my aunt had a very severe case of ms.

Marilyn- glad things are going to slow down a bit

Nancy- I'm going to have to agree with buddy on the birdfeeders. My friend had a hummingbird feeder and a raccoon comes and shakes the sugar water into its mouth.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I'm back to work and attempting to get into some sort of routine.

:lmao::lmao: I would love that but Buddy? Not so much. He went speechless when he found out that I had bought dog food for an opossum that was snoozing under my dryer vent.

I know you love your summer job, but I do not envy having to establish a routine!

!

I hate this wicked weather pattern! Buddy and I were just saying that even though our weather can be sketchy, we are blessed here when compared to the tornados and hurricanes that hit others. You stay safe!

I hear you about the gas prices and travel. This year I seem to be considering gas more than I ever did, and I think it is because now I don't have the option of just not driving. Puts things in a different perspective. Your Momma will understand. If she was anything like my Mom was, there is no way that she would insist on decorationg if there was a chance things would g down ;) Frugal gal, my Mom was :goodvibes

Yup...bears. Mountain lions, bobcats, and coyotes. You would never think that they were so close, but they are tucked in teh woods behind us. I don't mind any of them but the coyotes and the coydogs. Some of my neighbors leave their cats out and the screeching in the sand pit it horrible. :sad2:

Well, it is officially over. I got my last grade and I am pleased, Nine courses this year and managed 8 high A's and one B. Now I have to get my house and yard back to normal. I am embarrassed at the condition.

Dinner last night was leftovers again. I am sick of them but we finished everything :cool1: Tonight I have to go to a 31 party so I have to find something for Buddy. I think my DDIL Erica will feed us.

I have to check on her today. She has had some heart issues, but the DR's cannot find anything wrong. She is going for an angiogram (I think) today. The Dr said no problem to the party :confused3, but I am calling later to see what I can do.

If I miss anyone, have a safe Memorial Day Holiday.

Hi! :wave2:

I can't imagine what the kids and teachers at those two schools in Moore went through. I have been in a tornado warning at work before (years ago) and it was so unsettling. I was in the first grade hallway and the kids were sheltered in place, tucked up against the wall and they were crying. Fortunately, the storm that passed over us didn't produce a tornado. It's crazy to think that you are responsible for the safety of other people's children and you have no control over what the sky might spawn.

They keep telling us this hurricane season is going to likely be "extremely active". One of the weather people last night was saying it's quite possible we'll have to evacuate this year. :headache: Work made us fill out an evacuation form already. Usually we just have to fill one out online if there is a storm over the summer. This year? Oh no, they want to know where we are going already, and they want to know our next of kin and their contact information. :scared: I have no clue where I'm evacuating to. I haven't thought that far ahead. I put Albany, NY on the form since that's where my closest family lives. :confused3 More likely, I'd go to WDW.

Those grades are great! Good job! :woohoo:

Marilyn - Think cool thoughts! :cold:

WDW as a storm retreat area :thumbsup2

I just saw the hurricane predictions for his year too and that is crazy! Of course, on a selfish note, I wonder if that will impact FD for August :lmao:

I have been scouring the boards, trying to figure out how to have an inexpensive WDW vacation with Kady, and so far, I cannot justify the cost. The problem is that when I have traveled without Buddy, I have split the room fees with another adult, so I never really thought about the total costs. I am onboard with the cost until I factor in food and spending, and then I cringe. No matter how I move things around, I still need to eat ;) I am locked into the second two weeks of August so that we miss the start of school the last week in August, and I want to be home the first week at least so I can help Buddy cut. Oh well.............

So you are teaching this Summer?

Morning, everyone! Well, today is the last full day of school for us! Next week is all field days, and yearbook days, and "clean the classroom for the teacher" days. Katie stayed up most of the night cramming for her Biology and American Studies classes. She's found that she really enjoys studying. And she enjoys the results from it... go figure. She's already formed study groups for most of her classes for next year. It's nice to see her so excited for next year, as this one has been a real struggle! Having good friends in all of her classes is really helping. Also, having some creative classes is keeping her in a good mood! She's already started on her AP Drawing portfolio. The teacher gave them a list of things they have to do over the summer that is 4 pages long. She's broken it down into chunks, and has a plan for the summer! Now, I just have to convince her to do the same for her 2 online classes: Financial Literacy and Computer Tech.

Jacob just finished his final project for his History class... a guidebook to Utah. It is 22 pages long with pictures, and facts and maps, etc. He is so happy to have it done! It has taken him 2 weeks of working on it for 2 hours every day! He will finish the school year with a 4.0 grade average (Straight A's every term!). To reward him, on Monday we are taking him to get his own cell phone! He's so excited to get it before Disneyland!

The twins have class elections today. Mary is up for class president, and Leslie is up for class secretary. I hope that they do well, but I won't cry if neither one is elected. Leslie, for one, tends to get distracted easily, and I worry about her classwork suffering.

Timmy is doing quite well! He's looking forward to having his siblings home for the summer.

Alan and I are getting away for the weekend. Sunday is our 23rd anniversary, so we are combining work/school/pleasure. We are heading back to my dad's house so Alan can get some interviews done for a freelance job, more filming for his thesis documentary, and taking my dad out for dinner. While we are there, we will visit mom's grave and make it all ready for Memorial Day. I haven't been able to do that since she died, so I'm really looking forward to that!

Have a great holiday weekend, everyone. Since we are leaving this afternoon, I probably won't be checking in much!

Happy - almost - Memorial Day Weekend,

Marilyn ~ In my world there is nothing worse than no airconditioner. Just ask my family. You know the saying, "If Momma aint happy than no one is?" Well for me it's "If Momma is hot, get her cool before she explodes" Yea I am not a nice girl when I am hot. :rolleyes1

Robin ~ Thanks - What is your Aunts name? I will walk in her memory. Actually a good friend is the organizer and she was diagnoised 2 years ago.
I bet your weekend will be busy.

Nan ~ I am over the moon for you. Those are some great grades Lady!! I am so proud of you. Now enjoy the rest of your summer. You so deserve it.

Bethany ~ I can't imagine having to fill forms out like that. You have no idea what you are going to do in any situation. That to me is crazy. That would be like the county asking me what I am going to do when/if a tornado rips through my house. What are they thinking??!!
School is almost over for you right? Enjoy your summer.

Glynis ~ :woohoo: Your kids are just amazing. What an accomplishment! You and Alan have instilled in each of them the best they can be. As parents you can't ask for more. You both must be VERY proud.
Enjoy your time with your Dad. Any word wether Alan is going to DL with you?

Doug is golfing in a golf tournament today with Jay and Marty. It is cold, windy and cloudy. No way a good day for golf, but they were excited.

Tomorrow Elizabeth, Ethan, Stephanie, Matthew and I (I'm walking/running)are running in a 5K, then the beauty shop is open. Elizabeth is a Stylist, but has hung her sissors up to raise the boys. But she keeps her license up. So every 6 weeks she comes to the house and makes us all pretty. I fix dinner and we have a ball. But I won't let her have any wine till she is fininshed.

The rest of the weekend is not planned. I am sure there will be some golfing, some running, some adult beverages and some grilling. Hopefully a fun time for all.

Make it a great day and a fantastic weekend.

Not yet. The boss who makes the schedule, has been in Oklahoma with a film crew, covering the aftermath. He got back late last night. We're hoping to know this afternoon, before we leave. Keep your fingers crossed!

I hope I never have another couple of weeks at work like the last two weeks. Ever!

Still hoping! i hope that you have a great time on your getaway!

Ellen- I would love to have my own stylist! Dinner is a small price to pay for such a good time!

It is freezing, rainy and yucky here! I should be busy but I just want to crawl back under my covers.
