In and Out in a Day

Good grief is the weather crazy here right now. Up to almost 70 today and now it's pouring rain. I might need a boat to get home!:boat: And now they are talking about snow for tomorrow night or Friday. :confused3

Went to my first physical therapy session today. Not too bad, now to see how it feels tonight after doing the exercises she had me do. She also told me to work on them at home too, at least once a week.

Going to be a busy weekend. Going to either a swim meet or a karate competition Saturday and Sunday of course is the big game. :cheer2: (wrong colored pom poms there) :rotfl:

On Sunday my youngest DN and I are making the food for the game, we are having a little Super Bowl party at my sisters. My DN was so excited when my sister told her that we could make food for it that she asked if we could make brownies and rice crispy treats. Then changed it to a Ravens colored cake. :rotfl:

Hi girlies,

PIO ~ Please stay safe. I saw all of the foam at the coast. Now the fires scary stuff.

Nan ~ You are my hero. Going back to school - God Love Ya!!

Kat ~ Check your PM's I hear you about extra expenses. My car is getting new "shoes" tomorrow. I have needed them for a few months now but yesterday the felt slick on the ice so tomorrow it is. I would much rather spend the $$$$ on a cruise or for WDW. Sometimes it's the pits being an adult.

Robin ~ Good luck with the homework. I am SO glad those days are gone - don't miss em one one bit. ;)

We are counting the hours till we leave (23 hours to be exact) tomorrow. We really need to get out of Dodge for awhile. I can't wait.

The sun is shining today - but the temp. is only 12 degrees with a wind chill of -22. I am never happy huh?

WFDT ~ Hamburgers, sweet potato fries and wickels - we are both playing hookey from bells and choir tonight. We need to pack and get things settled with the animals.

Make it a great day!!

So, sometimes a chill in the air is a nice thing, but that is just excessively cold. I don't do anything with a - in front of it. I could get punny about that kind of weather taking away from the enjoyment of my day, or it causing me to be a negative person, but I'll pass. ;)

Ah, school. I was looking at some essay questions the other day. Makes my head hurt. Someone is encouraging me to go back to school to take some more classes. I'm pondering the idea, but likely won't do anything until summer at the absolute earliest. More likely it'd be in a year or two.

Car expenses....sigh. I'm not even going there right now. I've been blessed that my car has required very little maintenance. I am trusting that it will continue that way for a while longer. It's just about to make 25,000 miles and it's a 2009. The payments, insurance, and gas are frustrating enough.

Have fun on your trip!

Marilyn - Enjoy the game! It's so exciting!! :hyper: Our weather did that too. It was nearly 80 and now it's in the 50s. I just went to look at weather.com and I knew it was a violent storm system, but I didn't realize all the damage across the country.

PIO - I enjoyed your photos! Like some of the others, I had only heard about flooding in your country. I did not realize there were also fires. Hell or high water.... :worried:

Marilyn - I think the weather is crazy everywhere lately! We were close to 80 just a few days ago and it's 40 now. I hope the PT works for you!

Ellen - Have a safe trip and have fun with your boy!!!:thumbsup2 What are wickels????

Nan - I agree with Ellen. I admire you so much for doing something I'd never be able to do. You rock!!!!:worship:

Tonight we're having tacos. So far our Super Bowl line-up will be crawfish, spinach and artichoke dip, spicy whiskey bbq sliders, hot wings and fried oyster sliders with avocado and jalapeno mayo.

They are wonderful with hamburgers. They are a "Wickedly good pickel". OMG they are so good.....sweet, dill, garlic bits of yumminess. Google them, it explains it better. I don't know how to get a link up or I would but they are worth going to find.

We were under tornado watch until late last night and still have flood warnings up. The lake behind my office has a river that runs parallel to it and in some places they are no longer separated.

I hope the PT works for you!

Well I am so hoping it helps too although this morning is it really bothering me. :headache:

DS went back to school this week; after the long summer vacay. So, we're back to routine here. It's Friday night and the boys are out with an extracurricular activity for a couple of hours. Sadly, I spent most of that at work and have only just gotten back home.

Dinner is mac and cheese....with added bacon.

Keep well all.

Well, a very good morning to you all. I'm coming to you from under the thickest blanket of snow I've ever seen! We got 18 inches on Tuesday, and another 2 feet on Wednesday. Luckily, it didn't snow yesterday, but didn't do much else, either. It's supposed to warm up to around 42 degrees, so we'll hopefully get some melting going on. I know I'll be thankful for the snow pack in the summer when we usually get our water shortage, but I'm not liking how cold it is, and I HATE sending my kids out in snow drifts bigger than they are!

Bowling for me today! Hooray!!! I look forward to this day, all week long! It's my time away from the stress at home.

After bowling, I've got to head to my sister's house to borrow her sewing machine to alter 3 dresses for the play Heaven Can Wait. I know I said I wasn't going to help with the costumes anymore, but this is a student directed production, and he's not been getting much help from his teacher. His mom is a good friend of mine, so I told him not to worry about the costumes, I'd take care of him! He was so grateful! It's mostly all done, but the lead actress is a size 1 and all the 1930's dresses we have are for a size 6 or larger. Sigh. Oh to be that skinny! But it is making it very hard for me! The play runs all next week, and then it will be over.

Alan and I are going out with some friends tonight, so the kids will be on their own. Before we leave, I'm making waffles out of cornmeal, and heating up some chili to put on top of them. Hopefully the kids will like that.

Lauri ~ sweetie, I hope your days starts getting better. I think this is what they call "The winter blues". Take care my friend.

Dont want to sound snarky but no it's not "The winter blues" it's "The sudden tragic lose of a son with no answers why or what happened"

Oh my sweet friend, none of us can comprehend what you're going through. All we can do is let you know that we love you, think of you and pray for you. Love you.

Lauri - What she said. I so wish you didn't have to go through this.

ETA: I also want to echo what Ellen said; I really do hope your days start getting better. While you aren't dealing with simple winter blues, I do suspect that the dreariness of winter is not helping anything. While nothing will ever take the pain away, I do hope that with the passage of time, the pain is not so raw for you.

Just stopping in for a minute. thinking of my NOLA friends down in Superbowl Land :goodvibes

Hey y'all! I hope everyone is ok, so quiet here.

Congrats to the Ravens, great game!!! What a week it was down here, could not have gone any better, well, except for the blackout during the game. But hey, that's how we roll.;)

Plenty of Super Bowl leftovers tonight.

One of Kyle's friends was killed in an auto accident yesterday morning. Great super friendly 22 year old with an awesome future. Kyle's taking it very hard.:sad1:

Oh Kat, I am so sorry. Kyle has had to learn how to cope with loss way more than a young man should have learned at his age.

I have been trying to acclimate back to school and to stay sane while Buddy works around the house. It is upside down and I am no good with chaos. It will be worth it when it is done but for now :crazy2:

Erm....I love youse NOLA folks but at 3am Scotland time I was hoping youse would put a coin in the meter quicker !!

It finished at 4am and I was up at 7 to get the boy to school.:crazy2:
It was worth it though, great game.

Im so sorry for Kyle's friend, and thought to his family.

My boy is doing good.
High school seems to agree with him. The first student assessments have been done and he has been placed in the top groups for all subjects.
He has shown an aptitude for French and has been offered a place on an accelerated Mandarin class.
Ms Wong, the Mandarin teacher, spoke with them today and gave her thoughts on how China will be a major player in business ( and pretty much everything else ) in the years to come.
The boy came home keen but a wee bit confused.
He has just finished a Modern Studies project on Human Rights violations is China.
He was questioning how these two things sat together....that boy is gettin too smart for me too quick.

Oh, and there is a....*GULP*...girl !!!

Stay safe lassies and have a good night.

Kat - Sorry about Kyle's friend. That's too young.

Nancy - I'm trying to acclimatise back to WORK! But its absolute stress both at work and at home for me right now.

Vicky - Congrats on a smart boy and a great start to high school. Girl? Is that another 4-letter word??

Congrats to the Ravens. I would have preferred the 49'ers but then what do I know about gridiron anyway?

May you live in interesting times! I can do without the "in interesting times" right now. But at least I feel like I'm living.

Kathy - I'm so sorry for Kyle and the family of his friend! What an awful thing!

Lauri - You remain in my prayers! Wish I could do more.

Nancy - Congrats on school, and good luck!

Vickie - Hooray for the boy!!! Sounds like he's good at everythingLet's hope the girl doesn't derail him!

Bethany - good job on the Superbowl! I only watched the halftime show. Pretty awesome!

I get to spend my day hemming aprons for the play. Not too bad! I should be able to get them done quite quickly! After that, it's final dress rehearsal, and we open tomorrow!

Dinner tonight will be King Ranch Chicken. Fast, easy, delicious!
