And in following the fine tradition of the department stores and whizzing through the holidays at the speed of light, let's talk turkey.. :teeth:

Are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner or going out?

If you're cooking, what will your menu consist of?

Whole cranberry sauce or jellied?

What kind of stuffing?

What kind of pies?

-----

Did I just say "pies"? Now I would kill for a piece of pumpkin pie.. Anyone happen to get a slice of one while they were out trick-or-treating? If so, I'll buy it from ya.. :teeth:

with everything going on with my mom i'm not too sure....

we were planning on turkey day here, with mom, my bro, sil and nephews...but not sure now

Brandy

Cooking at home. Not exactly sure on the menu, but probably at least the following:

turkey
roast on the stove top
deviled eggs
kugel
stuffing
corn
jellied cranberry
biscuits
apple pie
pumpkin pie
carrot cake

Are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner or going out? Hosting it in our new house, after moving in only 3 days prior. yep, we're nuts. lol.

If you're cooking, what will your menu consist of? hmmm...turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, a couple of vegetables (not sure which yet), rolls, gravy. The usual.

Whole cranberry sauce or jellied? both

What kind of stuffing? apple/raisin stuffing. mmm...yum.

What kind of pies? pumpkin and apple for sure, probably 2 others not sure what yet.

I have pumpkin pie....want some?

We always go over my Mom's house for Thanksgiving dinner. The menu consists of: Turkey, mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing/sausage, carrots, green beans, corn, dinner rolls, gravy, sauerkraut/kielbasa, cole slaw, jellied cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie/cool whip and apple pie.(where's the "I ate too much and I'm readt too explode smilie?" :goodvibes

We'll be going to my aunts and uncle's. Then probably to my grandparents' the day after for the weekend.
Menu will include (it's the same every year)
turkey
mashed potatoes
gravy
stuffing (and we'll all fight over not enough)
creamed onions :crazy2:
peas
cranberry sauce (the jelly kind)
fruit salad

then it's apple and pumpkin pie for dessert

Cooking and having everyone here.

Turkey
Ham
Mashed Potatoes
Candied Yams
Corn
Mixed Veggies
Stove Top Stuffing
Whole Cranberry Sauce :crazy2:
Gravy
Biscuits

Not sure what pies yet, but here is what we have had in the past.
Pumpkin Pie w/ Cool Whip
Apple Pie
Chocolate Cream Pie
Cranberry/Cherry Cream Cheese Pie
Pecan Pie

My answer would normally be cooking and having just about everyone and their mother here, but.......

This year we will be eating Thanksgiving dinner at Boma's in the AKL resort at WDW! Yay! Woo Hoo! I am so excited ~ the first time I'm not responsible for cleaning (yuck) and cooking the turkey and trimmings. That cleaning of the turkey is the worst thing to me. Almost makes me unable to eat it. They should sell birds without that surprise bag of parts inside. I have to wear gloves and use long barbeque tongs to remove that thing. lol

What is "kugel"?

Normally we go to MIL's, but she is having carpel tunnel surgery and not cooking this year. Meanwhile my mother invited us and we accepted her invitation. DH and I have accumulated enough points to get a free turkey from the grocery store, our contribution to the meal.

What's going on with your mom, Brandy? Did I miss a thread or something? Hope she's not ill or anything.. :(

Going to my sister's house for turkey day. Not sure of everything on the menu but I am bringing the corn pudding.

My husband's stepdad is Jewish and when he married my mil he insisted she learn at least this recipe. I love it. :)

1 container (16 oz.) Cottage Cheese

1 container (16 oz.) Sour Cream

1 cup sugar

5 eggs, beaten

1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine, melted

1 Tbsp. imitation vanilla

1 pkg. (12 oz.) broad egg noodles, cooked, rinsed and drained

1 Tbsp. cinnamon sugar

1 cup coarsely crushed corn flakes

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Mix all ingredients except noodles, cinnamon sugar and corn flakes, until well blended. Stir in noodles.

SPOON into 13x9-inch baking dish; sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and corn flakes.

BAKE 50 minutes to 1 hour or until center is set. Cool at least 10 minutes before cutting to serve.

Yes in a few hours the grocery stores will have all there halloween stuff gone and the isles will be packed with Christmas stuff.

Cooking. My parents, my brother and sil, and DH's brother and sil and kids are coming. My ILs will come for dessert. (They already had other plans for dinner.)

Turkey etc. All the usuals. A special thing in our family is corn pudding, from my MIL's recipe. It's easy enough for the kids to make.

C.Ann said:
Whole cranberry sauce or jellied?

Both. DH likes jellied and I like whole.

C.Ann said:
What kind of stuffing?

Regular bread stuffing, plus some dressing made with veggie broth for vegetarian DD12. (Last year she actually ate a piece of turkey just because her 92yo great-Grandpa cooked it.)

I'll make pecan and pumpkin, and I'm sure guests will bring others.

Thanks for sharing that recipe.. It does sound rather yummy! :flower:

As far as I know, we're doing the cooking, but at my mom's house. We don't have a ramp at our house for her wheelchair, plus our rooms are just too small for her to move around in, and we don't have the porta-potty she needs. But considering we were sitting next to her hospital bed last Thanksgiving, this is perfectly fine!

We'll probably have:

turkey (yum!!!)
mashed potatoes
hubby's famous gravy
stove top stuffing
oyster stuffing
green bean casserole
corn
jellied cranberry sauce
noodles
maybe deviled eggs if I'm feeling ambitious enough
pumpkin pie

Just basic stuff. My parents don't like anything fancy or real flavorful, so we make the green bean casserole and oyster stuffing for us.
