Hi
I am in a real dilemma here. I was supposed to check into GCH on 5 Dec till 10 Dec (mon-Fri), but realised with my current schedule I'd miss Fantasmic. Hence thought of checking in a day earlier on Dec 4th (I'm coming from my vacation at San Diego). However, my agent has just informed me that no standard rooms are avail on Dec 4th and I would have to upgrade to a Premium Downtown Disney room which would cost me additional $300 more for my entire stay!

In your opinion, would the extra $300 be worth it? I am coming all the way from Singapore and not sure if I will regret missing Fantasmic?!

I think there will be a showing of Fantasmic on 12/9. The entertainment schedule is not complete yet. Unless there is something I'm missing you should be able to see it on Friday.

Thanks..the problem is I will have to leave GCH by 6.30 pm as my flight is at 11 pm on the 9th. I booked an extra day (shown as departing on the 10th) as I wanted a place to rest before we embarked on our 24-hour journey home. So i don't think i could catch Fantasmic on 12/9!

I think it'll be worth it. Not just because Fantasmic is a can't miss but because of the view. I think you will love the Downtown Disney view for your entire stay so much more. You'll feel like you're part of Disneyland every minute. :wizard:

Could you ask your agent to see if there are any rooms at the other two onsite hotels (if that's what you desire) - or you could pick up a cheap room at one of the hotels on Harbor for one night if it comes to that.

I personally LOVE Fantasmic and wouldn't miss it for the world. It's the one thing I make sure I see everytime I go to DL. I wouldn't spend $300 though. I agree with miss.potatoehead I would get a cheaper hotel in the general Disney area on Harbor Blvd and take a taxi to GCH for your second nights stay. This would be much cheaper and there are a lot of nice places to stay on Harbor Blvd. I suggest Embassy Suites Anaheim South. I would ask your travel agent what some other alternatives are.

Mainly because $300.00 total, for all the nights, is really not bad. But, I'm thinking that since you have come such a long way, and have such a long trip home, I would not want to bother with switching hotels. You are probably packing fairly heavily, due to the distance, and I would not want to be lugging all the bags around, plus you will probably have a lot of purchases by that time, which just adds to the pile you would have to take from hotel to hotel. I think that adding an extra night, and upgrading is well worth the extra $300.00. And yes, Fantasmic is worth it!!!!

Everyone's different! All I felt with our DTD "view" room was more annoyed at how noisy people were down there in the disney mall! I had no idea it could cost MORE than a different view.

But then....I'm not into fantasmic either. Saw it twice and that's enough. Actually once was enough but I wanted to see if my feelings of "meh" were a onetime thing.

I personally think it's worth it :) I LOVED the Downtown disney view and sitting on the verandah looking at downtown Disney. I would pay $300 for an extra day at Disneyland and to be able to see fantasmic.

what if you book that view room for the added night and then switch back to your other reserved room? It's only one night so switching rooms shouldn't be that difficult. Might save you some $ and be something to look into.

Thank you everyone. In the end DH and I decided to go for it...we would've been traveling 10 days by then (starting off in SF, then down to SD, and last stop - DLR of course!) and we really did not want to have to move (again) or worse miss the Fantasmic. :D

So, we're really looking forward to the view and Fantasmic..and if we're really up to it, we're going to try to hit the Candlelight Processional too :)

:dance3:

The hours are now up for Thursday, December 8th. The park is open until 11:00 and Fantasmic! will be showing then.
