Just for fun, with all the new DVC's being planned, 7 years from now (in 2014) which one do you think will the most difficult to get a room at without the home resort booking advantage?
Hawaii DVC, Contemporary Villas, Grand Californian Villas, or one of the other existing resorts?
For now (even though I don't have a point schedule) I will guess Hawaii. Only because I see that most people on these boards say they would like to visit but don't want to own there (7 month rush for ressies). I also think the people who do decide to own Hawaii, will USE their points at their home resort instead of trading out to other DVC properties. The cost and time to go to the east coast destinations are a barrier for a lot of west coasters. Not me though, I'd go to Florida in a heartbeat!
I was wondering if the folks who voted for one of the other existing resorts might tell us which ones they had in mind and why.
ChuckS mentioned VWL and that makes sense seeing that is small and close to the MK. Simzac mentioned SSR (you're not serious, are you?) which I have a hard time envisioning as being difficult to get a ressie at, but hey in 7 years time, who knows!
I voted for GCV myself. With such a small number of rooms, 7 years from now it's going to be very tough to get a room there at 7 months out. And if/when they build another DVC at DL, I don't think it will get any easier to get a room at GCV unless you already own there.
I would imagine the smaller WDW resorts will always be the toughest to book simply because the majority of people in any given year will always be traveling to WDW. I would concur with VWL and possibly BVC as the resorts most consistently likely to put looks of disappointment on the faces of DVC members who are trying to book there.
I did vote, but I doubt if it will matter too much that year for me. I'm sure we will be trading for Disney Adventures and a stay over by Normandy for the D-Day Anniversary Events.
I voted CR because if GC is extremely successful, I believe they will find a way to add more DVC villas by 2014. With CR being right on the monorail at WDW I think it will always be hugely popular.
400 DVC units in Hawaii? I thought it was a hotel with some DVC units yet to be determined. I better go and read the news release over. I guess other than the proposed small number of units in California, I can't imagine wanting to stay on-property for more than 3 days. I guess I'm jaded, I only go to Disneyland because of the proximity to me... I think Disney World is a superior vacation to Disneyland (I'll probably get flamed!).
So now that the tribe has spoken... I will go and white out my vote off the screen...
