hiya im new here, stumbled across the site and was wondering about some of the details of my disney wedding.
me and gary are getting married in the wedding pavilion on the 21st november 2005, we're travelling from the uk but the information we've recieved so far is very vague.
we've got the intimate wedding package booked and we've paid for the extra 5 guests. we've got a "cake and champagne reception" at the grand floridian, but not sure exactly what this entails. how long is it and what happens, is there cake cutting/dance/etc.... really in the dark about this and would appreciate any help from other disney brides.
also we're considering the theme park bridal photography package. how long does this normally last, when is it, what shots do they normally take, is it worth the extra cost?
also what happens in the ceremony itself? (only ever been to one wedding before 10 years ago and it was a big church do so not sure what normally happens)
going out for a meal in the evening as kind of a reception for us and the family, can anyone suggest somewhere nice where we can go still in wedding attire thats not too expensive (dad is paying for it but dont want to make him pay too much)

would really appreciate any help from anyone as, although we've booked the wedding, we still are very much in the dark as to what actually happens.

thanks
karen

I got married in November too. Great time to go. The reception for an intimate is exactly what you described. It is short. They have a violinst there for your first dance, you cut the cake, mingle and leave.

To see theme park photos, you can view mine at the DPS link http://albums.proshots.com/disney . Our name is Paxton/Gibson and our password is 110904. Those are the Magic Kingdom photos. Not sure if anyone can show you the Epcot. In my personal opinion, it was TOTALLY worth the money. Where else can you get photos like that?

As for the ceremony, you will need to pick an officiant from a list that Disney will provide you. Disney waits until it feels like the last minute to do anything. You should get a package to fill out around 9 months out though. It will have the list of officiants. From there you will also pick flowers, cake flavors, songs, etc. You can always deviate from the list....for a fee.

Once you get your officiant then you can work with them to write your ceremony. It will be conducted however you like, so you might want to start researching them on the internet. :)

HTH.

We were married in early December - also loved the time of year. It was a nice day, but not super hot. My photos are older (we just celebrated 8 years!!) but are posted - as are many others - with links in the Photos link. I think the theme park pictures are worth every moment. You get up very early (to do them in wedding attire) as they are done before the parks open, we spent about 2 hours doing them and went back to the hotel for a relaxing breakfast. If we weren't leaving on our cruise that day we could have napped, but didn't, and didn't really need to. However, we did our photos 2 days after our wedding so we didn't have to get up that early the morning after our wedding.

also does anyone know how much the current price is for the MK photography package?

and have just read somewhere (so now worrying tis going to cost too much for the people who were planning on attending) that the guests need to stay at disney hotels. is this a necessity or are they just trying to get more money out of us? will they be refused from the wedding if they arent staying at disney hotels?

If you are having an intimate then they don't need to stay on property. If you have a custom, then you have some sort of room block requirement.

As for the cost, it was $725, but I heard it is going up to around $800 for 2005....maybe someone else can quote you.

thanks everyone for the help. was worrying that the guests would have to stay on WDW property which would probably have meant that my parents wouldnt have been able to make it.
thanks again

For your parents, an option to consider would be renting points from a DVC member for a couple nights on property. The rooms are wonderful, have a fridge, microwave and coffee maker; that time of year is very reasonable for points - except the 4 days of the Thanksgiving holiday - so it is a great deal. The booking window is approaching, it is 11 months prior for the member at their primary resort, which would be later this week. There are also great deals to be found for rooms on property - some as low at $60 per night, which is often less than you can find off property.
