This is from a perspective a NON coaster fan, but I will ride the small stuff.

First, VERY smooth compared to Big Thunder, it was a much nicer ride. Not as jerky. In fact, we rode it first before BTM, and now I find BTM quite lacking in comfort.

Second, about the same length as Big Thunder as well as the drops and turns are comparable.

The new Mine ride has a middle themed portion where the ride slows and you can enjoy the Seven Dwarfs mine theme. I like this, sore of similar idea as Splash Mtn.

I would use a FP on it, BUT I realistically would not wait over 20-30 minutes for it. ( of course, there isn't any ride that good IMO anyway :) )

BTM is a longer ride than 7DMT.

All due respect, but this couldn't be further from the truth.

BTM is 3 minutes 25 seconds.

SDMT is 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Not the same length.

Seemed about the same to me. Didn't have a watch on it. Plus, my post is my IMPRESSIONS.....not facts. Maybe the middle part makes it seem longer.

We rode three times using FP+ on our trip in late October. It is smooth and mellow I guess. The slowing down part, inside the mountain is the most "Disney" of the ride. It is a nice, easy coaster with a classic Disney "dark ride" component. Great for families. We, as two adults, most enjoyed the "dark ride" part. It was classic and classy. The coaster was more of a family ride and not very coaster like for us.

My family really enjoyed this ride. I was pleased that my father (70 something) was able to ride it without experiencing motion sickness (he isn't able to ride BTMRR anymore due to motion sickness). Plus, I agree with the PP stating that the slowing down part in the middle is the 'Disney' part of the ride and classic/classy. IMO this makes it a family ride, which is just what my family was hoping for, so we could all enjoy it together. We like to use a FP+ on this ride.

Interesting comments, we on the other-hand did NOT like the ride and gave up our second FP+ after our 1st experience. We were in the very last seat and both of us hit our heads on the back of the seat on the 1st hill. Couple that with having our knees pressed up against the seat in front of us since we're both on the tall side and we both agreed that we much prefer Thundering along :rotfl2:

If they made the ride longer I would enjoy it vastly more, its length is by far my biggest gripe.

Were you sitting towards the front, back, or middle? Both 7DMT and BTMRR feel really different depending on where I site. I prefer the back. ;)

The last row on BTM is the best. It makes such a huge difference in how enjoyable it is. I'm curious to know if it matters as much on 7DMT. Hopefully the train isn't as long as BTM

We somehow managed to ride in the front car, the very back car and somewhere in the middle on our three rides. I liked the ride in the back car but to picture from the front car is the best. In the front car you do not really get to see the cottage scene at the end since you kind of glide right past it before stopping.

for people with motion sickness issues, it's more of a problem than thunder mountain.
The rocking cars make the motion worse.

We rode it twice last week- the first time we went in the standby line with a 40 min wait- really only took 30 min. and the interactive spots were great for my kids. Sat in the middle and thought the ride was okay- my 5 year old hit his head right away so I had my arm around him the rest of the time.

Second time we rode we had fastpass and it took 5 min tops. We got front seat and had a blast - got fantastic pictures of my 3 year old with his arms up as high as he could and the biggest smile on his face- made all the planning and money worth it. We also noticed more details the second time around which is neat.

This really is a ride that needs to be ridden more than once to get the full affect in my opinion.

Wanted to address a couple of things.........

Hitting my head : I had read on here that this happens. I did not, however, my son who is 6 did. He said it didn't hurt, but I tried to anticipate any type of lurch and get my arm or hand back there for he rest of the ride. Never had the problem again, though I bet after riding it a few times a person could anticipate it happening.

ALSO, Asked my older kids what ride was longer today, BTM or 7DMT. Both said about the same, maybe BTM a bit longer. lol They were surprised that it was so much shorter when I told them the time. Of course, it doesn't compare to the time for Everest which is 22 long minutes. ;)

........I don't THINK so, Tim!

We rode it our last trip for the first time and we were disappointed. There ride is way to short. You can't even feel the carts rocking. I prefer BTMRR hands down a better ride.
