Impressed with VMK player behavior

I have been very quiet during the quest, and you also probably noticed much clutter in the threads. We (the moderators) wanted to give everyone a wide berth during this very intense quest. We will hopefully get some clean up going merging / closing whatever

Now that it is over I wanted to say a few things, and perhaps some of you may want to add.

First and foremost I understand everyone didnt finish it, and I know there will be some hurt feelings, I truly am sorry for those that did not finish this quest. If only there were more time.

Now to the main point of this thread. The majority of everything i witnessed during what was the most intense period of VMK history (haha history all 3 years of it @_@) were acts that truly amazed me.

I am very proud of the majority of this boards members. I saw people who we all know don't exactly get along even helping eachother. It was a sight to see! It was amazing how so many worked to put so many through that probably never would have stood a chance. I would like to thank you personally for all you did for the members of this board.

Now let me even broaden that sentiment. At one point I was in the middle of a very successful team pushing people past pirates that consisted of obviously DIS , but also had prominent members of VMKForums, VMKMagic, VMKMasterminds, and another forum that prefers a bit of a low profile but I am sure most can figure that out. Pushing player after player through without a care of who their affiliation was with. It was great to see some of those friends I have not seen in a while in some cases and my hats off to the amazing team work and acts of kindness that honestly I never thought I would see in VMK. Woot to the VMK community at large!

Heh , I wish I could have seen VMK's estimates of how many finishes they had expected to get, because with prizes like that you know they were thinking conservatively. We really took it to them LOL. Not in a bad way, they were probably as blown away from the team work displays as we were.

You all amazed me, amazing work... amazing friends!

Now before we all go back to bickering and fighting stop and pause a moment and think about some of that for a moment. I am not sure you will ever see a repeat of such unity

Oh and even though I felt we stuck it to VMK, they stuck it back, I am also one of the many who never bought this weeks items GOT ME! I got 1 puppy tho, I think I will title him woot

anyone have a red pirate hat for trade? huh huh? LOL

Yep, I was also really glad to see people pulling together and working their tails off to get others through the pirates portion of the quest. What impressed me even more were those people that were willing to be the last to have a chance to pass it. It says a lot about the VMK community as a whole (and more specifically, the portion of it that I know and have observed these actions from) that this kind of thing was going on.

Yeah, sure hope the powers that be got some kind of satisfaction from that move.

But yes, (back to the positive.....keep thinking positive.....) this was the most amazing display of community effort I have ever witnessed in VMK.

LOL Bravo! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me, and everyone else who was having trouble! Especially me...LOL...wow I never noticed how much I stink at every mini-game!

Anyway, your point really shows only about one good thing that may have came from weekend.

Oh, and OF COURSE you're not alone lava boy! I didn't get a chance to buy anything over the weekend either! LOL I put everything in my trading list (my signature). Can someone please tell me if I'm missing anything for a girl? What is this scarf I'm hearing about?

Two words: VMK Economy

Ticking people off (by closing the quest early) was a trade-off worth explaining away compared to the devaluation of the almighty VMK "dollar".

While I do appreciate the "Golden Opportunity," the game in this case was treated with more respect than it's players today.

But, despite the injustice, VMK players were able to form friendships, work together and feel true accomplishment. Woot to that! Thanks to everyone who helped each other durning this quest.

What is written on of all of our hearts and which was acted upon by many VMKers this weekend: -TRUE HUMAN COMPASSION AND KINDNESS!

This game will always be about it's players first and foremost!

BTW, anyone notice that the VMK disboards post count is over ONE-HALF MILLION!

Understatement of the year.

I realize that I did have a nice moment in this ugly day. This morning, in between still trying to help others get through while trying to complete the quest myself, I got to the task that requires you to make a friend. I clicked on the first person I was going to send a friend request to, and I got the generic "either you or this person's friend's list is full" message. So, I clicked on another person. And, another. And then it dawned on me: I had made so many new friends, DIS and otherwise, both looking for help and looking to help with this quest this weekend that my OWN friend's list was full.

I am still having a hard time with how this quest went though.

That is a very good point... I'm pretty sure they had planned to let the quest run all day, but changed it seeing just how many people were winning.
