And we didn't.

The CM gave me the usual spiel- "Always check your spam folders, pins are sent randomly etc..." I then explained that we had never received email pins before, and that the last pin we had received, 30% off, was revealed simply when I called up on the date we originally booked our December trip.

Here's where things get interesting- The CM explained to me that following the telephone call, he would send a "reminder email" to the marketing department, that given our family travel history he couldn't understand why we haven't received a pin lately and that the marketing folks should have something out to us in the next day or so.

I don't know how much of this was hot air, and how much was truly the work of a helpful castmember, but it was encouraging. It's not that we're without a pin for our December travels, but the 30% off which we presently hold, v. free dining, is a world of difference! Let me know if any of you have similar luck...

Interesting, we never get pin codes (for anyone associated with our family with 2 different addresses) and we go every year and any time I've called about codes they say they are random and there's nothing they can do.

I do find the pin code thing unfair and if you are frequent visitor you should get offers, but I guess not in our case.

Hope you get something though, post if you do.

I was told a while ago (not CM) that if you want to generate a PIN to log into the reservation website and start looking up vacation package option with dining attached to all of them, go all the way to the final page, but don't book and then close the window (don't log out) The theory is that Disney watches these closely!

I never thought that it would work???

I have been looking up packages with dates in Oct and Nov in order to get price ideas for our trip in May 2013, and I have been on the website a lot looking at cost differences between Mod, Value, with dining etc.... Since March I have gotten 2 PINs??? I have never done this before and have NEVER gotten a PIN before now? One was for room discount and one for free dining. I can't use them because they are not my dates, but as soon as the packages come out I will start doing this again! Just to prove my point about them watching the website my first offer said "We see your family is thinking about coming back"???

Im thinking this works??? :confused3

What the PP said makes complete sense. I went probably a good year without getting anything until I started looking for this trip. I signed on and looked up my trip for August in different weeks and in Value and Moderate. In the past month, I've received two and I was able to use one. It was to stay in a Value Resort (which we are) and we got a little bit of a discount (like $28 or something lol), and a free ticket upgrade to Water Parks Fun & More. So definitely try logging in!

Over the course of the last few months, I've made multiple requests for pricing via the website, saving offers, with and without dining under both my, and my wife's name. I've pulled some, added others, and interestingly this hasn't generated any interest on the part of Disney marketing.

Maybe it's me. But no matter what I do, I can't get a PIN code. I'm thrilled for others who have gotten them, and think it's an awesome bit of financial pixie dust! However, I think our family has simply been forgotten.

I've tried the "do everything except book the trip" trick (at least 5 times), I've signed up for every Disney website and offer, and I've surfed their websites for countless hours (signed in & everything). I've called multiple times to find out if I have a PIN attached to my account. I just get the standard, "Oh, we're sorry...you don't have any PINs attached to your name. They're random, you know. Just keep checking our website, maybe something will come up!"

It is frustrating. Last year, we paid rack rates (used our 5% AAA room discount at the last minute) for our 2 week vacation. This year, it's the same thing - 2 week vacation, no discounts. Certainly, don't rely on discounts - we make sure we can afford rack rates before booking. But it sure would be nice to get the same opportunities other guests seem to get. Heck...maybe we could go more often if we weren't paying full price all the time. I read thread after thread on how people are getting all these discounts, and while I'm happy for their successes, it can become a little disheartening after a while.

In the past 2 weeks, three families on my block have gotten Free Dining PINs in the mail for this fall - exactly during the time when my family is scheduled to be there. Mind you, they haven't been to WDW in years and aren't planning on it this year, so those are wasted discounts.

And here I am...hoping that something will pop up in the next 90 days for us. Hope springs eternal!

Koz, please let us know if the marketing department actually gets something out to you in the next few days.

I think that this works as well! I did this for my last trip and got a free dining pin. And I have been doing the same thing as the PP and just recieved a free dining pin in the mail yesterday. We are planning for Jan 2013. I will be doing the same in hopes to get free dining for that trip!

Good luck everyone!

Your post sounds very similar to our situation...I also feel forgotten by Disney...we have been 7 times in the last few years with not a single pin code received yet. I don't receive ANY emails from Disney unless I've already booked a package and they send me confirmations etc. It is very frustrating and disheartening, I agree! I have done everything I can think of to highten my chances of receiving a pin and nothing works. :sad2:

Don't put it on hold!!! It may take more than a month, I've been doing it almost daily since March and just got them last week.

I'm in the same boat as many PP. I have done it all and have never got a pin. I have been multiple times, and I am that nerd that looks at the WDW and ressies even if I may not be going to WDW in a few years.

Maybe when we bring our kids for the first time, we will get a pin since that's really when we will be pinching our pennies! :rotfl:

I do agree with a PP that says it seems the frequent visitors should be "rewarded" with the pins. But I also think that could go the opposit way as well. Disney could want the not-so-frequent visitors to get a pin b/c that could influence them to come, whereas frequent visitors will come no matter what? Just a thought.

The fact that they haven't been in years is why they are getting the PINs, and being on the website 4 or 5 times probably isn't enough, Im on all the time booking packages (almost) I'm fortunate that I work from home and have time to do this, but PIN's are meant to entice people? Good luck!

I've done the whole save trip thing plenty of times with a few accounts, going on multiple times a day, etc. - still nothing. I've called and asked, it doesn't matter my address is cursed to not get pin codes.

Are you saying to build an itinerary and then just "X" out. Don't save and don't move forward?

For this upcoming trip, your scenario was exactly the same for us. Using myself and my hubby, different trips, dates, with and without, etc... Nothing. I called one day to see if I had a pin - nothing. About two weeks later (and having booked a trip in between) I called back to see about making a change and was then told I had a FD pin.

In the past years we have rec'd them via email and all different times, while considering a trip and while not even looking at wdw websites for an extended period of time. We have been going roughly once a year (with the exception of last year's US trip) so who knows.......

We also always receive the pin via email or are notified of one when calling. We have never rec'd one in snail mail.

I truly feel for those who do not get them because there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

I would suggest booking the trip if you planned on it anyway. The deposit is refundable up to a point. Hope for a pin. Call at some point maybe expressing interest in upgrading, but stating it is too much money. Perhaps then what the OP said would ring true. The CM might contact the marketing dept. and they would generate an offer?????

Worth a shot anyway !!!!!!

My advice would be to save the trip on the site.

Our latest pin offer did not come until AFTER we already booked our upcoming trip.

Word on the "street" is that the FD promotion will probably be opening to the public after the "book by" date passes for the PIN holders. Supposedly 1st week in August. You could call and change to FD then, couldn't you?

There's pretty much ALWAYS an offer out to the general public. There's one right on their website right now for August and September. Sure, it might not be the one you want now, but eventually, there's probably going to be one that is good for the time you want to be there.

Don't get discouraged! There's so many threads of people who are confident that there will be a GP offer soon. :thumbsup2

As for the comment about enticing families to go by offering PIN's....I second that theory. If it weren't for getting the FD PIN, we wouldn't be going, that's for sure. I do wish they'd allow people to transfer it over to a friend though. I had an offer a couple of months ago that my friend could have used, but alas...w/ the whole "name" thing, it can't be transferred to another individual. bummer.

I did the whole "save" package starting back in January and got 3 PIN offers since then. But, if it's not working for some, then I guess that's not the key to getting it! I've also heard of people getting a PIN on the back of their planning DVD they requested in the mail. maybe try that route.

Sometimes we get pin codes, but the ones we get are the same as or smaller than the general public discounts.
