IMPORTANT Poly Questions

If you've read my other post about our upcoming virgin Poly stay, you know we're a bit nervous about staying somewhere different. So, help us one more time if you will. We booked a standard view to save $$. I'd like to request a decent room. I'm sure standard means you look out over a parking lot or maybe towards the monorail or something.

Do all the rooms have full balconies? We must have a balcony as we spend a lot of time at the resort.

Also, what would you request if you had booked standard view?

Is there a website where we can see the layout of the resort and room locations?

Most, if not all, the buildings only have balconies on the third floor and a patio on the 1st floor. We had a standard view and had a great view of some high trees, gardens and the monorail. My DS loved watching the monorail go by! When I made the reservation, I requested non-smoking, third floor, close to main building and we got all 3. We stayed in the Aotearoa longhouse and loved it.

I do not have great knowledge of all the longhouses, although I know that Tokelau is one of the most requested longhouses for Garden View rooms. I stayed in room #1915 over a year ago and loved it! The room was spacious (the rooms in this longhouse are slightly bigger) and our view consisted of the lagoon- the TTC boat, Contemporary, Space Mtn. and if we walked out a couple feet, the castle and Grand Floridian. It definitely exceeded my expectations! I believe that all floors in this longhouse have a balcony. This is not the case with all the longhouses--You can find out on the website above which floors have balconies in the longhouses. The standard view is actually Garden View and much nicer than most standard views in other hotels. Most of the rooms look out over the foliage, pools, partial lagoon, and buildings. If you do not want a parking lot view, then request not to be in Raratonga because one side looks out over it. I am staying at the Poly this February and requested the same room when I booked our reservation.

I read your post about wondering whether you would like the Polynesian--don't worry! You will love it! The BC has always been my favorite, although the Poly nearly replaced it last trip because of the ambiance and convenience! Have fun!

We just returned from a garden view room in Fiji. It looked out toward the beach, wedding pavillion, Luau Cove, and GF. I had requested a balcony too, but we got the 1st floor so we had a patio, which was almost as nice(2nd floor has nothing). From our patio we could walk right out to the beach, where there was a nice swing, and it looked at the castle. It was perfect. We could also partially see the monorail in the distance.

A few trips ago we had a garden view room in Samoa, with a balcony. We were directly in front of the volcano pool, could see the GF and the lagoon, and if we really streched we could see the castle right from the balcony. It too was perfect!
