Last year I only did the Half. I lucked out and only needed potty once on the course. I hit a real rest room in Frontierland. That was easy.

So, what about the marathon? I checked (skimmed) the official program and only see info about water, food, and first aid. Let’s assume the porta-pots are available at each of those stations.

So, what about inside the parks? Will the course in Epcot, AK, and MGM conveniently run by rest rooms like in MK?

Anybody have tips or info?

Thanks.

I could've sworn there was a thread on this very subject. But, I sure as heck can't find it.

Kelley--The course does run past many bathrooms in the park and they are open for business!! I know they are open early too, I used the bathrooms at mile 2ish (so about 6:20/6:30am) in the UK last year and I was not the only one in there!!

This might be a little TMI but because of the heat last year and being dehydrated, the last port-a-potty I used was at mile 15, outside of Animal Kingdom, so I'm not sure what it's like using the park bathrooms after the parks opened and having to share them with the park guests. I would hope they would let you cut in line!!!

Oh, you're right. I didn't think of that. The park wasn't open when I ducked in Frontierland. Hmmm. :scratchin

Vic - That's what you get for swearing. ;)

From what I remember of the close ones:

Epcot Start - The ones by Spaceship Earth/Kodak store (Red side)

MK - Tomorrowland by Cosmic Rays (I think), Frontierland

AK - On pathway between Africa and Asia, before Expedition Everest

MGM - By Lights, Motor, Action, Across from the Hat and the Great Movie Ride, by the entrance of the park

Epcot - In England across from Rose and Crown, Germany

Those are the ones I can remember quickly.

The only one in park that I know of is the one in Animal Kingdom is. It's in the same building that used to have Donald's Breakfastasaurus, right across from Dinosaur!! It was definately nice to be able to stop at a REAL restroom, the downside was the smell of breakfast!! I was starving by that time!!

OK here you go...

Starting at the first park Epcot

Red Course

• Just inside the gate. Right side is most obvious and crowded. Left side is not as obvious.
• The Backside of Innovations in front of Test Track (you may be prevented from going back there)
• The Oddessey
• Norway – again may not be able to hit this one.

Blue Course

• Morocco (not too busy)
• Between Italy and Germany

TTC Mile 9

• On the right just after you pass the ticket booths and I mean just past.

Magic Kingdom - Miles 10.3-11.0.

• Main Street near Tony's Town Restaurant
• Tomorrowland near Stitch's Great Escape and Cosmic Ray's
• In Liberty Square near Liberty Tree Tavern
• In Fronteerland near Pecos Bills

Of these the Tomorrowland facilities are the ones that are most obvious.

Animal Kingdom - Miles 16-18

• Just as you come onstage and right before the Birds of Flight.. It’s in a left right turn sequence and will be on the left.
• In Asia just before Mount Everest and near the Ice Cream Truck
• The course passes close to a couple in Dinoland but they are far enough off course that I would not look for them.

I am familiar with the first one in AK and have seen the second one from the course.

Disney Studios Miles 22.5 - 23.5

• At the corner of Streets of America and Commissary Lane
• The other end of Commissary Lane near the Hat.

The second one near the hat is closest to the course.

Finally back through Epcot Mile 25-26

Morocco, and between Italy and Germany. Note this time through you will be leaving the course and entering no mans land.

Sorry you are on your own for a map.

Though is you want a map of the course hit this link

Red Course

Blue Course

Half Course

I guess I could mark potties on these but permanent ones seem obvious once you know what part of the park to look in. As far as these maps go, play around with them. Hit the aerial button and you get the photo view.

Have fun

Great thread. One of my biggest worries being my first marathon. How about outside the parks? Like for example between EPCOT and the TTC. That's 5 miles roughly or close to an hour in my running time that I won't know if there is a restroom.

Also, between the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Are there port a johns everywhere or no where? All I know is this run if I need help I'm looking for the bright WISH shirts and asking for help!

Okay, dummie question from the newbie runner...but how long does a pit stop usually take and how do u make up the time? Does the short "break" give u an energy boost? How often do most people have to stop during the run(assuming that the people that I am speaking of are not the super fast finishers)?

There are a few (not sure how many) portapotties at the aid stations, or every mile. You won't have to go 5 miles without a chance to go. Don't be alarmed, as you WILL see people taking care of their #1 business off to the sides. It just happens, and that's that.

I find that sometimes, having a little portalet break is nice....makes me feel more comfortable to run without a full bladder. Sometimes nice to sit for a few seconds. Late in marathons, though, it is dangerous for me, because I don't want to get back up!

Nice that there is the chance to go in the parks...the "real" restrooms accommodate more runners, tend to be cleaner, and have sinks.

As for making up the time...well, either you run a little faster and make it up, or you don't. You do NOT get to subtract your potty time from your race time.

If you're a guy just let it run down your leg, no one will ever know, especially if its raining, I and many others do it all the time, splash some water all over yourself at the next water area ...:cool1: :thumbsup2

(must read title carefully - This thread is NOT about Important PARTIES on the marathon course)

Every water stop has 2-10 blue rooms (actually I think the ones in Central FL are green but you'll recognize them). More near the start less as you get near the end. These staops are about every other mile before the half and then approx every mile there after.

I did see a guy once near the race track who just could not wait any longer. He went off course left. This is where you can see the faster guys running around mile 13 across a small distance. This guy found a sign post to be his shield. All I could think is why in the open, you could always wait a little longer.

Nascar is about 7-10 seconds. Disney .... depends (oops that was not meant to be funny)

Do not worry about making up time. If you do you will be expending energy in an unwise fashion.

If you start the red side you will have this feeling of a giant mass course exit just after you cross the line. Maybe 25% of your fellow runners will hit the trees and yes it is equal opportunity.

From there it really depends on you, how hard you system is working and your hydration. I think that I have hit the head once in almost all marathons with few exceptions and maybe one or two other events did I ever go again and it was tied to GI issues as much as any thing else. And no I am not super fast.

You should know through training what you need for the little buildings is. Do not take on eny more liquids than you trained with and you will be fine.
