I have heard (and I believe it may have happened to me while staying at AKL) that when you press the button for FRONT DESK from your room phone you don't truly get the front desk but a call center that answers with the name of your resort. For people with disabilities this is inconvenient. So, I make it a point to have the actual number of the resort on my mobile phone so I can call directly. Also, it's handy to have the number to Disney Disabilities Services also on your mobile phone in case you get an answer from Mousekeeping that doesn't seem quite right, as it happened to me.

Sorry, but any phone number for a Disney Resort ( accessible to the public) also goes to a call center. However, the Housekeeping button on your resort phone does go to the resort Housekeeping office (although it may be rerouted at night).

Why would it be any more inconvenient for a disabled person than for anyone else? So long as they provide what you need, why does it matter who answers the phone?

Plus, I'm not sure that the direct numbers actually go to the hotels either.

when I was at all star spots last aerial I have to call the front desk 4 times between 1 am and 5 am all 4 times the same person answered the phone I would before she answered say her name and she know why was calling each time. I do not think it was a call center because the next day when I went to talk to the manager I told him that I was a little rude to the CM and said oh ___ ( I forgot the CM name now) but it was the same CM that was on the phone was working last night I asked him to let her know I was sorry and he said he would that what I went through should have never happened. yes I do think there are times you get a call center but there are time when you do get the front desk. I do not care what one I get just as long as my needs are met ( or a good sulotion is made) and that they do what they say. now with that the trip in April was the first time ( there might have been 1 other time) that I have had to call the front desk

In general, the calls go to a call center rather than the actual hotel front desk whether you use the button labeled 'Front Desk' on the phone or any published phone numbers god that resort. The reason is just how busy the front desk is. It's just more efficient to everyone - those in person and those on the phone - to go to the call center.
Because the front desk is not as busy during the night, it would not surprise me if middle of the night/early morning calls go to the front desk directly.
For Housekeeping and Engineering, the calls would go to the Housekeeping responsible for that area. I know when I've called from Old Key West, it is usually combined OKW - Saratoga Springs.

One very LARGE advantage to using the phone buttons is that the person you are calling can see exactly which room you are calling from and has your name. If you called from a cell phone, you would need to tell them that information.
