Important changes to Rent/Trade Posting Rules

I find value in DIS Misc, operations and Rent board - that's why I have been around...but I was also a lurker for a while prior to buying in...

You own the board - it's private - so you make the decisons...I think some people want to still contribute (infrequently but consistently - like me since 2005) and ability to use rent board...but that option is no longer available...

I think at least in short term (who knows long term) that renters will be exposed to more people with little or no track record...

I have no extra points since I decided to sell those contracts...but I will miss the rent board option as there are times I get submerged with work...and may not post for a month...

I do think there has to be people who have been drawn to the rent board (selfishly) but then move over to the MISC or other board sections to check things out and contribute...not sure if that was ever considered as a possible drawback??

Members of the disboards that dont have enough posts to qualify to post on the rent trade board should contact a member that does qualify and have them post an ad on the rent trade section. Charge $11 per point, keep $10 and have $1 per point go to the member that placed the ad...sort of a mini david......problem solved...everyone is happy

Rental offers must be made by the member controlling the points in his DVC account so that wouldn't help, solve a problem or make anyone happy.

2) Posters to the Rent/Trade board without a minimum of 50 non-Rent/Trade board posts over a six-month period are limited to one post per six months (or one year, again whatever seems necessary).

The problem with that idea is that once a thread is approved, it can essentially stay open forever, with the author just updating the first post. So just one post is no limit at all.
