Does your marriage license have a raised seal? Do you have your original with original signatures?

I went to SS office with the license and they told me that it is NOT an original so they can't accept it. Did we lose the original somehow or is this just what they send everyone? Our has two seals on it but it appears to be a color photocopy with a blue stamp with the Clerk's signature.

My original wedding lic. does not have a raised seal. It only has a blue colored 'official' stamp.

The one you get mailed to you after your wedding - that your witnesses and officiant signed and has a stamp - is not technically "official." Your official wedding license is a certified copy of your license and comes from the state. It has a raised seal. There is a form you have to fill out and a fee to pay. We were married in Disney but we also live in Florida, so I honestly don't know if you live in another state how you'd order it, but I suggest you try here: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/planning_eval/vital_statistics/marriage.htm I only know this because we're trying to adopt and we had to have an "official" certified copy of our marriage license. But, most SS offices, banks, DL office, credit cards, etc. will take the one you got signed by your officiant so I'm surprised your SS office wouldn't accept that :confused3

I hope that helps and if I totally didn't answer your question - sorry :flower3:

Nope, mine doesn't. Took it to change my name on everything and had no problems at all. I thought perhaps I had the wrong or unofficial one but they said it was correct.

Florida does not require a raised seal anymore ( I am a Notary and this saved me $$$$ from not having to buy an embosser)..but my seal on our license is blue on the original

Thank you so much. At least I know I have the one they mailed to me.

So, if I request a certified copy from them, I CAN get one with a raised seal? This is so confusing. I am going back to the SS office tomorrow and I will report back. I am sure this might be good info for any Disney brides who have to do paperwork in other states who are accustomed to the raised seal.

The SS office tried to tell mw that it wasn't valid since it says "Application to Marry" on it... oh and they said it may not be valid since the location says "Walt Disney World"... I am not a fan of the SSA :lmao:

Good luck with it, but the one they mailed you is the original and should be acceptable.:thumbsup2 I just did mine 3 weeks ago.
